if joba starts, he can still pitch a 1-2-3 8th inning like last night. coming out of the pen to pitch the 8th, joba cannot go back and pitch innings 1-7.

i know this is obvious and most agree where he should be, but i needed to get that off my chest. phenomenal last night.

      Ditto from me!

PS – I still want to do what Corey suggested a few months ago. I’d like to all meet up sometime, either at the ballpark or at Foley’s for some dinner/drinks and to watch on TV.

From Buster Olney, about this past Sunday’s starters and the percentage of swinging strikes they got:

      The Whiff Index
      Pitcher–Swinging strikes–Pitches–Pct
      Matt Garza–15–104–14.4
      Zack Greinke–14–114–12.3
      Yovani Gallardo–14–97–14.4
      Dallas Braden–13–82–15.9
      Edwin Jackson–13–101–12.9
      Max Scherzer–12–86–14.0
      Phil Hughes–12–95–12.6

I know Hughes wasn’t outstanding on Sunday but he still had life on his ball which is encouraging.

      @ YankCrank:
I thought it was Corey but maybe it was you. Whoever had the idea, I think we should do it.
