even tho he didn’t pitch terribly, last night’s game is why incentive laden deals suck.
Looks like the White Sox released Betemit. With him gone, Nunez buried in AA and Marquez injured at 0-4 with an ERA north of 14.00, looks like all Kenny Williams has to show in the Swish deal is just a salary dump.
speaking of releases…did you see the braves released Glavine? Pretty dirtbagish, after he had just finished months of rehab and a handful of rehab starts to get to this point

Depends on what the scouts said… While I would have no problem with giving Glavine a few starts, I can understand the organizations decision. Especially if they have someone in house who can replicate his numbers.
in 16IP of rehab starts he had an ERA of 2.25 giving up 17 hits with 3 walks and 5K’s. Not terrible sounding at all 2 me, and his last start he went 6 IP 0 R 2K 3 H…he clearly didn’t pitch his way to a release…why make the guy rehab at all if you knew you weren’t going to use him?

Ozzie Guillen says it was the best dump on record since Kumar surprised Harold at the start of their second movie.

Yeah, but look @ his FIP compared to his ERA (in parenthesis)
A: 2.53 (0)
AA: 11.20 (4.50)
AAA: 4.82 (3.38)
I agree the timing was odd, but the results in the minors really wasn’t there; he’s walking people, not striking anyone out (understand that’s not his game, but still, he got a decent number of k’s), all the while giving up over a hit per inning. On top of that, he’s 43 and coming off an injury.
He may be productive, he may not be, but this reminds me of Guidry in 89.

Haha, I wish I could say I get the joke but I never saw #2…i’m assuming it means what we all know: Ozzie hates Swish.
QUESTION, related to something jeremyM said in a recent comment section.
who do you think is the best non-pitcher on the yankees not just right now, but moving forward, between rodriguez and teixeira? at their peaks, obviosuly rodriguez is the far superior talent. but given the surgery primarily (not to mention everything else), and the fact that teixeira is smack in the middle of his prime, who is our go to guy? do you think rodriguez ever flashes his former self again in all of it’s glory, or is texeira going to be the better player for the next two seasons?
tough call, and i’d probably go with teixeira. nice problem to have.
“two” = few
Damon HR, Swisher 2B…can the Yankees cycle in the 1st?
It’s not looking like today is going to help the Wanger’s ERA.
@ Steve Lombardi:
lol it still went down tho
aceves? Seriously, what the hell? All the talk was that this dude was going to get important innings, now down 5-1 they put him in during the 5th? Isn’t it Hughes’ day to start anyways?! Why send him to the pen at all then? AUGH
ok so i realized hughes’ day woulda been tomorrow, which brings me to why didn’t CC start on normal rest, and have Wang with a Hughes piggy back for tomorrow? Again, what the hell?
Mark Teixeira for the tie!
A-Rod makes it 6-5. He’s a clutch master!
another stat-paddin rbi for a-rod!
BTW, anyone seen Tresh Fan, butchie22, yagottagotomo1, Sicilian Lou, or AndrewYF lately?
You know, I have a feeling I’m going to regret not taking a personal day and shooting down to DC to watch Johnson try for #300…
i’ve wondered the same about butchie, he’s been away longer than the rest of them. certainly hope he’s just sick of the Yankees and all of us…

melky! what a turnaround. i can’t say that i believed in him the whole way, and i’m sure that’s the case for a lot of people. and he’s certainly a lesson in why you don’t give up on 23 year old kids. he’s probably been the most clutch player in the game.
and melky looks like he has a very bright future. good for him, really happy for him, he’s a pleasure to watch with his exuberance and enthusiasm.

Hey, Steve. I stopped commenting because you stopped…..just kidding. Seriously, I am off from school now, so vacation time= more time with wife and daughter= less computer time.
