P.S. – Channeling Scooter Rizzuto, I want to wish a happy birthday to a special lady who is 84-years young today…in dog years. Happy Birthday to my shelter pup, Lita, who’s been with me since the days when Derek Jeter was actually dropped to batting 7th in the Yankees line-up…and that’s a loooong time. (One-quarter of my life, so far.)

Sickening loss today. I put the blame on CC. Good pitchers don’t cough up leads like he did today. (And could John Sterling please stop talking about ‘good starts’ and ‘well pitched games’ when the Yankees pitcher is losing? 5 runs in 8 innings is no one’s definition of a good start.)
I think Mariano deserves a bit more of the blame myself. What is with him and tie games?
@ JeremyM:
Mo should have been pitching the ninth for save. This is the kind of game that you pay CC the money that they did. Absolutely no excuse to give up leads and 3 run homers. I could have lived with a 2-1 or 3-2 loss today in a well-pitched game but not what happened. I have been behind him up to now knowing that it may be a rough start on a new team with high expectations, but this loss is bad.
Right now he is scheduled to go against Brad Penney and the Sox next Thurs. He needs to come up big or the boo birds will get loud. Deservedly so.
Also, don’t forget that despite his season totals in recent years, he came up small against the Sox in ’07. He still has to prove that he can pitch the ‘big game’. (And I don’t count last year in the NL. It’s AAA compared to AL East)
