• K-Rod Goes After Bruney During BP Today

    Yes, the story continues…

About 5 minutes ago, I just saw, on BPTV on YES, that Francisco Rodriguez went after Brian Bruney during batting practice today and that K-Rod got right into Bruney’s face and was then held back. From the clip, it did not appear that Bruney moved at all.

Somebody, at this point, should tell Rodriguez to save the drama for his mama and chill. Betcha someone said something like that, to him, today…perhaps in a harsher tone.

As much as I loathe the Cisco Kid’s antics, he is a pitcher of signifiganct note. Bruney AKA Mr DL should had refrained from comment. He’s a hypocrite pure and simple. When Chamberlain pumps his fist after an inning where the Yanks are losing 4-3 and THEN the Yanks eventually lose that game I didn’t hear anything from Mr DL on how to play the game right. K-Rod’s zinger back as to who Bruney was , was well said and quite enough at the same time. The Cisco Kid took it too far. C’mon , Frankie why get into a physical altercation with Brian for?

Wait wait wait… are we talking about Joba pumping his fist when losing 4-3 to the Red Sox towards the end of his pitching performance where he had his career-high 12 strikeouts and battled back after a horrible first inning?

In my opinion, against your biggest rival, when you worked real hard to battle back and striking out men left and right, you have the option to show a little emotion. I mean, did you have a problem with Joba pumping his fist after making his belly-flop double play against the Indians?

And anyway, in my opinion, a fist pump that AJ and CC (among others) use during games is completely different than K-Rod’s NFL-like song and dance. Hell, Papelbon’s act is less tired than K-Rod’s.

Sure, I completely agree that Bruney shouldn’t have said anything, but like Steve said, K-Rod’s act IS tired and taking one media comment to the next level by almost starting a fight? Badddd move.

I don’t mind the attitude. Get into the opposition’s head. If K-rod is pitching the ninth against us and he is thinking about Bruney then so much the better.

I was growing tired of the corporate Yankees. Let’s get back to Billy Martin, Thurm, Jax, Boss, etc……

If anything, I suspect K-Rod said something along the lines of “if you have something to say, say it to my face”

At any rate, it’s a mountain made from a molehill

Absolutely… though it does make the 26th to the 28th a bit interesting, no? Especially with Bruney scheduled to be back soon?
