Lots of speculation on what-if this and that didn’t go our way, we’d be 0fer our last whatever. Interesting to think about, but not how it works, IMHO. We’re a very good team with some pieces still to fit in (Wang, Alex, BP) and in a good position to make a run. Very capable team, and potentially a dangerous one in the post season, unlike the last two years. Curious about Alex, though, he hasn’t made any headlines lately, and he’s hitting nothing but air. does he need to get spotted with Britney Spears or something to start hitting again?
It’s 3:20 pm ET. Oh, my condolences to those poor fans who have been sitting in Yankee Stadium, in the rain, for the last 2 hours and 20 minutes – or longer – waiting for this game to be played today. Man, that’s just brutal. I know that it’s Washington’s last time in the Bronx, but, still, that’s no way to treat the fans…

I agree… I thought the game should’ve been called this morning; it was monsooning on my way to work this morning.
At the very least they should’ve tried to play the game tonight; there was no way they were going to get it in this afternoon.
And as I type that, Pete Abe says 4pm start time…

Agree completely. I got totally drenched this morning on the four block walk from home to the train and it didn’t stop raining for one second all morning and right through game-time.
It would’ve been very easy to simply change the game to 7:05. The Nats go back to DC for a 3-game set with Toronto and the Yanks fly to Miami for 3 against the Marlins. Other than the fans, the Yanks would’ve been the most heavily inconvenienced with a postponement to 7 pm and it’s still only a three hour flight to South Florida.
Mel Hall… *facepalm*
5:20 pm ET and still no first pitch? Just call the game already and give everyone in the ballpark a coupon for a free dinner at NYY Steak. Really, imagine sitting there, now, in the rain, for four and a half hours and still having no idea when the game will be started.

This is something that Bud Selig needs to regulate and standardize as much as possible. This is a shitty way to treat your paying customers and it’s not just the Yanks that do it.
Disagree. The Yankees basically said at 10.30 this morning that they would TRY to get the game in, with a tentative window starting at 3. B y 12-ish, it became clear that even that was optimistic, so fans should not have begin showing up until 4. A 6.30 start at that point is not great, but it is not egregious.
Thank you IL play…
According to the YES guys, MLB ordered the Yanks to stay there and try to play the game, because the only possible makeup day is this coming Monday.
