I think he’s overweight because he needs to be careful how much he actually uses his legs these days. Extra running or exercise and he may just blow out another knee.
----------
True, although from what I recall reading at the start of this decade, Junior was never a big workout freak. He was a naturally athletic guy with a good metabolism and that part of his injury trouble came when he started aging and wasn't into the off-season workout routine that his peers were into.

The blessing and the curse of it is that while he probably didn't keep himself in good enough shape to extend his career, it also more or less means that he stayed away from the temptation to use PED's since he was never in the gym.

started his classic junior walk after hitting a no doubter
--------
I always hated that $hit. Nothing annoys me more than when batters pose in the batter's box and admire the flight path of their ball. Hit it then start running the bases. Griffey and Manny have perfected that level of arrogance into an art form.

It’s kind of sad in a way to see him in his current state, lookin fat and old and out of shape

1 more cool thing, the ab b4 junior hit the homer off pettitte, Junior hit a flyball to medium range-deep center (well before the warning track still tho) and he thought he hit it out and started his classic junior walk after hitting a no doubter. I thought it was hilarious, but it must be frustrating for a guy like him to be getting old...I'm sure 5, 10 years ago he puts more muscle into it and its out. It's kind of sad in a way to see him in his current state, lookin fat and old and out of shape

girardi's bullpen management, stellar last year, has been perplexing in 09 to say the least. it seems like aceves, coke, hughes, robertson, and hopefully bruney are going to be reliable pieces, so hopefully he can get into a rhythm with this group from which he has quite a few options to choose from.

Anything cool happen during the game?
melky hit an absolute bomb over the left field foul pole that they had to review…and a-rod’s homer to center was crushed and into monument park…junior hit a classic yankee stadium III homer right over the porch…
other then that, they had hughes warm up in the pen twice(!) without bringing him in, and in the post game girardi talked about how he was gonna bring him in for 1 batter (but used aceves instead).
during the post game interview with pettite they had a cool stat…the yankees havnt been losing in a game since girardi got ejected in atlanta</blockquote>
Girardi seems to be getting dumber over time. By next year he'll be as much of a dope with bullpen management as the old nose-picker himself.
