as per a pete abe update:
UPDATE, 4:40 p.m.: Pena will get some time in CF in Scranton. The Yankees want to increase his versatility.

so are they just going to move ajax to the corner? What's the point there? And, don't we have enough people that we can put in CF in a pinch this year? Is it that necessary to take innings in CF away from jackson?

i personally think that cano would be a fine #2 hitter as he consistantly makes contact and can move the lead off man, if on base, to scoring position.
--------
I'd be curious to see Cano's spray chart because it seems to me like Cano grounds out to the right side an awful lot. With a runner on base, those kinds of ground outs could be easy DP's.

Plus with tex behind him he'd see his share of pitches (if he reverted back to his early season form of not swinging at the 1st pitch everytime that is)

For all you who agree with me that Robbie Cano does not now, or probably ever, belong in the 5th spot in the order, you MUST MUST read this dude's article. It's the most exhaustive piece I've ever read on Cano and all his frailties.

He confirms with stats all the frustration Cano causes me hitting behind A-Rod. Cano CAN NOT hit with runners in scoring position. Not in '09. Not ever.

(It also reinforces why the best stuff written these days about the Yankees and baseball in general is not in the newspapers, it's on the net. May the tabloids die a slow and merciless death.)
