I wonder if Wang's shoulder injury came up from something mechanical he was doing wrong this year. It would also explain why he wasn't getting the results as in years past. It seems like his career is unraveling before our very eyes. Sad.

Oh, not to worry...

I'm sure Cashman has Tom Glavine on speed dial.

Phil is more valuable in the rotation, especially as Wang may not be back. He hasn't really been 'back' all year. It's nuts to look for a bandaid fix. Phil needs innings and the Yanks need Phil in the rotation.

Mitre is a band-aid, of course.

The tough decision will be between stretching out Aceves, and losing him as a longman, or stretching out Phil Hughes, and displacing the guy who's doing the best job in setup relief, and reopening the 8th inning hole.

Ideally, they could bring up Melancon again, make him a 6th/7th inning guy, use some combination of Robertson, Bruney, Coke for the 7th and 8th innings, use Aceves as the long man behind Hughes and Joba, and leave mopup to Tomko, and the 9th inning for Mo.

But I don't know if Melancon is ready; last time he was up, he showed he wasn't.
