@ Tresh Fan:
Tresh, that's a very funny image. I can't even picture someone bringing in a picnic basket of food these days.

Well, i guess I better get ready, I've got another Joba start to attend this afternoon. I will see where I can smuggle my gallon-sized jug of cheap vodka. LOL!

hahahahaha i would have had so much fun at the stadium if i was around for that...too bad people are so uptight these days

you know what woulda been cool? If Hughes still sported the glasses he supposedly needed, and started coming out to the wild thing music when he walked out of the pen. (Im watching major league on dvd as we speak, that's what made me think of this).

I remember in the late 'Sixties and early 'Seventies fans like myself could bring in bags of edibles and potables. One time I was sitting near this kid---he must have been 12 or 13---who was guzzling down a plastic quart bottle of orange pop while puffing away on a cigarette. He was also clearly unaccompanied. I also remember this one guy who brought in a sort of "picnic basket" and wolfed down fried chicken and biscuits throughout the game. Personally, I'd bring in a little gym bag loaded with goodies. And they were alright with it, so long as it didn't contain any glass or cans.

This is more for the 7/4 Water Cooler but it would get buried there...

When I got home last night, I turned on the TV and it was still tuned on YES. I got to re-watch Rags's 7/4 no-no vs. the Sawx and noticed something I had never seen before. In the top of the 6th, during Jerry Remy's at-bat, the TV camera cuts away to the seats along the first base line for a moment and show a scruffy, scary-looking guy...WITH A HANDLE-JUG BOTTLE OF VODKA IN HIS HAND!

I've been going to Yankee Stadium since I was a little boy in the 80's but I guess I was too young to pay attention to my surroundings like that. I guess back then, bringing in a gallon-sized glass bottle wasn't a big deal. Today? You'd be renditioned to a secret CIA prison in Eastern Europe and never heard from again.
