the thing that struck me with Brown on the yanks was that he could never get through the 1st without giving up a run…and that aggravated the crap out of me. I especially found a dislike for the fact that they simulated a 1st inning for him before starts toward the end (like how they did with Joba that, what was it 1 time?)

In NY. He was having a solid season for the Yanks, despite the time he missed with injury. Even the start that he had where he punched the wall, he did well, I think he threw a quality start that game. At the end of the day, he posted a 4.09 ERA (110 ERA+) to go with a 4.03 FIP.

In 2005, he posted a 3.61 FIP, which is outstanding considering that he posted a 6.50 ERA.

Unfortunately, his performance in the 2004 ALCS overshadows the work he did as a Yankee.

He shouldn’t have punched that wall in Baltimore. I’m still annoyed that he did that. Up to that point he was having a decent season, despite missing time, so I’m not even sure why he was so pissed.

Just a weird season. That was the first time I’ve heard of a player missing time with a parasite, and I think the Yanks had two in Brown and Giambi.
