Every time he has a bad AB in a clutch spot, they’ll still come howling after him. Until they win a title with him. That’s just the way it is.

I also gave my tickets away for this game after being burnt out from going to all the games this past weekend. On one hand I hate missing walk-offs, but it’s always nice to give someone tickets to a game with a dramatic finish.

excellent point. of course, it hasn’t been all him, but his production has been huge, especially considering how “cLuTCh!1!!” he’s been. but baseball is a team game more than many give it credit for, leaning more towards it being a math equation these days. just not the case. getting a player like alex rodriguez back in the lineup goes beyond his individual production. it makes the lineup deeper, making the opposing pitchers work harder to get through 1-9. it takes pressure off everyone else in the lineup. it takes pressure off yankee pitching, knowing all the more that with him that if they give up a 2 or 3 spot earrly the lineup is plenty strong enough to get back in with 1 or 2 swings. the list goes on. but the point is that, even if the yankees aren’t scoring more runs with him in the lineup (i have no idea if they are or aren’t), they are better in ways that aren’t totally quantifiable with him than without him. this should be obvious to all, but it isn’t always.

Yup, it’s now a 70-game season in the AL East….

What a grinder…whew…

Yanks pitchers seemed to be in trouble from the 5th inning on, and the offense shut down cold after Hinske’s HR in the 2nd. I kept waiting for one of the good young hitters in the O’s lineup to drop the hammer on Andy….or Coke…or Ace…but they never did.

And then Godzilla awoke from his slumber and laid waste to the Orioles’ hopes for victory….

Got to see my first AJ’s Famous Cream Pie in person…
