Sure smells like it…
From Boston Red Sox principal owner John Henry, via Twitter, with a hat tip to Pete Abe -
News from Yankees’ Universe. Big upsurge in membership. Apparently coming mostly from Pluto. Not doing nearly as well on Mars.
- John W. Henry
After posting this comment on his Twitter account, John Henry called the Yankees front office and sang this song into the Yankees Universe fan feedback voicemail box:

my favorite part about the yankee universe thing isthat they keep hammering down the idea that this is the first time the yankees have had a fan club like this…it’s not, I’ve gotten things in the mail asking me to join the club for a few years now, it just wasn’t called the yankee universe until recently
I might be wrong but I think Yankees Universe donates proceeds of its merchandise to cancer research at Sloan-Kettering Hospital while Red Sox Nation is simply a traditional fan club that gives its members access to premium Red Sox experiences/attractions.
I’m not saying one is better than the other or judging Boston’s vs. NY’s but it would seem to me that if their missions are different then there’s no point to Henry’s criticism. Furthermore, if he’s criticizing something that donates to cancer research…well, he should eff off.
I admire the Red Sox organization they are doing a great job. Theo Epstein is a gentleman(despite that crybabyism a few seasons back when he whined about not having the Yankee’s money) and BIll James (even though I joke around about how stat geeks have only one piece of the puzzle)has added a great deal to the team’s vision. One glaring exception is John Henry AKA DOUCHEBAG EX-Yankee Minority OWNER! I didn’t hear this crap about the NYYS when he had a stake in them. What an inelegant piece of refuse! I know he’s speaking to a section of Red Pox fans who have their heads up their butts BUT whatta tool. I like the name Yankee Empire better….evil or not!
[...] Send a tape of this one into outer-space and use it as an example of “baseball” for the rest of the universe to watch and learn. Sound good John Henry? [...]
