No way Damon makes those 2 plays that Nick made yesterday. I know Nick flubbed one, but the other 2 plays were great.
Doesn’t UZR rate Damon as one of the three worst outfielders in baseball this season? If that doesn’t say “Don’t Hit it to Me!” I don’t know what does.
Damon will make more bad plays, but Swisher’s bad plays will be more flamboyantly bad. So I’d rate Damon at the top of ‘don’t hit it this way’ as a normal thing, but if there’s a chance of it’s making the low-light reel, then Swisher might ‘out-don’t’ him.
Damon’s current UZR is -15.6 runs per 150 games.
The other regulars in reverse order:
A-Rod: -7.9 per 150
Tex: -2.2 per 150
Swisher +1.4 per 150
Cano: + 1.6 per 150
Jeter: +4.5 per 150
Gardner: +15.6 per 150 (Melky: -0.9 per 150)

If the implication of this poll is that Swisher can’t be trusted, then I’d like to point out that the flyballs he dropped in Boston and yesterday were both in the early innings. Therefore they were not really with the game on the line, even though the one in Boston cost them a run that eventually wound up hurting them, after more runs were scored on both sides.
Oh, and that statistic for Teixiera makes me scratch my head. He sure doesn’t look like he’s missing that many balls out there.

Interesting, BUT I still don’t trust Swisher anyway! He’s either feast or famine in the field and Kay mentioned that one day he will cost them a big game in right. If the Yanks make the playoffs, it will be interesting to see who Girardi plays in left and right in lieu of the fact that Johnny Damonic and Dick are not exactly shining lights in the outfield. …an interesting conundrum indeed.
The Sox did ok with Manny roaming their outfield in past Octobers
Who voted for Tex and why?
I believe UZR can be VERY inaccurate for SSS…. small being less then a season.
