According to Fox Sports Jarrod Washburn is now a Tiger. Either the Yankees are going to make a big splash or they are going to stay put, because I certainly think they could have parted with a better pitching prospect than Luke French.

Yanks aren’t going to want Washburn, not if Yankee Stadium’s playing the way it is.

Exactly. He fits much better into the Tigers’ pitching park.
right but, who would you prefer to fill in the hole(s) in our rotation with then? Brian Bannister? pass.
and the fact the M’s asked for Montero was probably another deal breaker

come on, do you really think it stopped there? That’s how negotiating works, you start high
I think that the Yankees and Red Sox need to give up more than do other teams to get the same players. These two are viewed as wealthy in both finances and minor league talent. And no one wants to make them even more formidable without extracting something valuable in return.

such as who? I’ve long been advocating the acquisition of doc, but I’m pretty sure everyone else was against it…I’m just fearful of a certain knight being called to come back cause we have noone to pitch…;P

Washburn has posted 3 consec years with FIP’s over 4.7. I would hope the Yanks could do better. It may be that the Tiggers could get Washburn to continue to produce as he did in Seattle, but he has a body of work that says he may not be able to.
And Luke French isn’t the only pitcher the Tigers gave up.
