The Big Papi Bronx Reception Question
There’s been some debate about how the Yankees fans should receive David Oritz in the Bronx for this current big series.
I suppose it depends on whether you went to the “People who live in glass houses…” school or grew up in the “Eye for an eye” camp?
Me? I’ll be at the game on Friday, and, to be honest, if it’s late in the game, and the Yankees have a big lead, I suspect that I’ll join the mob in derisive sing-song…as long as the chant is clever, good fun, tasteful, and not obscene. Otherwise, I’ll probably lay low…
How about you? What would you do? Should Big Papi get the works?

if its a big spot on friday, i will be chanting as well…but only in a spot where i could possibly unnerve him and the game is on the line. If the yanks were up by a lot, I would lay low…I really don’t have anything against Ortiz (as long as hes not killing us with the bat) or the fact the he used PEDs.
I said on here previously that I wouldn’t be bringing a styrofoam syringe to the stadium, but I will be heckling him without mercy as I always do to all of the Sox lineup when they come up to bat. Whereas I regard my heckling as clever, I have had moments where it is less than tasteful and boderline obscene. However, I try and make sure that there are no children in earshot when those moments occur.
It would’ve been awfully hard to coordinate, but every Yankee fan should’ve brought a magnifying glass to each game and stood up and held it in front of their eye every time Ortiz came to bat, in order to help him look for the reasons why he tested positive in 2003.
Just trying to be helpful.
nice idea evan, wouldve been hilarious. i think its a safe bet to say that ortiz will hear it a little more loudly than usual this time around, although this weekends games are the biggest in this new stadiums short history and it should be louder than ever tonight, tomorrow and the weekend.
I would probably take the “Eye for an Eye” route. I distinctly remember when The Yanks were in Boston last time, the entire crowd chanting to Arod..”You did Steroids” over and over. Bring it Yankee fans..bring it loud!
