pretty cool, the entire starting lineup has an OPS+ of over 100
Anyone else wanting more and more to see Johnny D in pinstripes next year? For the right price of course.
i’ll maintain my stance that i’d pass on damon when it comes to anything more than a 2 year deal. After this year, he’s definitly going to want more so i think he’ll be gone
I think he might take 2 years to play with a contender. Especially if we go deep in the post season
Ps. Not really concerned about the money..just the years

After seeing the deals that FA OFers got this off-season, betcha Cashman tries to “Pettitte” Damon – giving him a deal for, say, $3 million with tons of bonus/incentive clauses – with a team option for a second year.
@ Steve Lombardi:
I wouldnt have a problem with that
@ Steve Lombardi:
I don’t think Damon’ll go for that, and I will be very surprised if he signs a contract like that.
@ Raf:
I still wouldnt be surprised if Damon makes some concessions to stay with The Yankees. We have a good team this year and will likely be contenders next year as well. If hes getting offers for 4 year contracts from likely non-contenders, I see him taking a pay cut to stay. I know players have done so in the past.
Am I the only one who thinks Damon could be our DH for two years if we can find another OF? Or are we all going under the assumption that Damon would be a DH instead of LF?

money talks, damon will walk
The Sox tried to diddle with him, and that’s how we got him. He’ll take the best deal he can get.
pretty fun post over at lohud:

what would your at bat song be?

This is how happened to play for the Yankees in the first place, if I recall. I’d do the same if I were him.
*how he happened
Or what GDH said.
after thinking about it, my songs would be:
Rage Against The Machine – “Bulls on Parade”
Minor Threat – “In My Eyes”
Led Zeppelin – “When the Levee Breaks”
OK, a friend of mine, who’s a big Yankees fan and goes to a lot of their games, and I were just discussing Jeter the FA. And, he said the Yankees should bring him back when his contract is up, but, move him off SS to 2B.
“OK,” I said. And, then he said “And move Cano to third.”
To this, I asked “What about A-Rod, where is he going to play?” And, he said:
“You move A-Rod to shortstop.”
At that point, I walked away from him.
Does anyone out there really think that A-Rod is still capable of playing SS?

Nada. I would tell the Yankees music guy to play nothing. Mickey Mantle didn’t need music to hit homeruns and neither do I….
Steve Lombardi wrote:
not i, he’s become too bulky and his speed (whether it be due to his hip or w/e) is way down
@ Corey: Ditto
Does anyone out there really think that A-Rod is still capable of playing SS?

You need to tell your friend that the 27-year-old A-Rod who played shortstop in Texas doesn’t have the same defensive capability as the present, post-PED, 34-year-old 3B.
I love Alex, not bashing him here…but he’s older, heavier, slower and working on a half-healthy hip. No way he could still be a + shortstop.
Wow, my last comment is completely wrong and backwards…sorry
In so many words (not counting the many I used and screwed up), no…not a SS anymore
Corey wrote:
Mine would be:
1. Tupac – Picture Me Rollin’
2. Jay-Z/Linkin Park – Jigga What/Faint
3. Guns N’ Roses – Sweet Child O’ Mine (the intro only)
Steve Lombardi wrote:
Not only that, if Jeter didn’t move off SS in 2004, what makes people think that he’ll move off SS now?
If he isn’t moved to 2b, I suspect he’ll be playing LF. But a lot can happen between now and opening day 2011

Same here, but not @ 75% of his salary. Griffey signed with the M’s at around $2M + incentives. Garret Anderson signed with the Braves for $2.5M. I think Damon is better than the both of them @ this stage. I don’t think he signs for less than $8-10M
Corey wrote:
Your first selection is phat. I love the drum intro to Levee Breaks. I would choose no rap, no mainstream crap like Coldgay, either. Something crazy from Maiden or Sabbath. I still like that RATM suggestion, Guerilla Radio is a good selection…….
Raf wrote:
I agree with you Raf. He’ll go with the money and quite frankly with the way he’s playing he’ll make some coin. I don’t know how the market will be BUT Damon ain’t Junior or Garret A at this point either.
Raf wrote:
I don’t think Arod can play SS at this point and Jeter is unlikely to move. I used to hear that the solution to the Jeter is SS problem would be to move him to center, as that is arguably the most prestigious position on the team. Though, St Derek has elevated the role of SS during his tenure to such a degree. Knowing Jeter, he’ll probably say that Vizquel is till playing short at his advanced age, if asked to move……..
Music: none.
Unless I hit a walkoff of some kind that wins the 4th win of a World Series.
Then the PA can put on the last section (last 1:30) of the 15th and final part of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at and Exhibition (The Great Gate of Kiev),
With synchronous fireworks, of course.
.
“at an Exhibition”.
Sigh.
i dunno, if it was me i would definitly take a song over no song. I feel like having a distinctive song that can be related to you can give you a psycological advantage against your opponent. I would want the pitcher to get chills when they hear my song play if i was a major leaguer. Kind of like how when an opposing batter hears enter sandman. I definitly believe hearing the intro to enter sandman helps mo intimidate the batter. Once you’ve got someone out mentally, then you will likely get him out in the game.
also, it helps to be the best ever…but you get my point
@ Corey:
) batters down then. Pedro never had music during his peak years.
Nah. Mo didn’t have entrance music in 96, and he was mowing (Mo’ing?
When you have great stuff, music isn’t necessary to intimidate an opponent.
@ Raf:
i didn’t say it was necessary, but i do think it helps
