I’m telling ya, if Minka tells Kate that she walks with no arm movements , it’s going to be war!
Via the Post with a h/t to Dom Amore -
She made it past third base with Alex Rodriguez, but Kate Hudson isn’t getting a warm reception at the plate from Minka Kelly, longtime squeeze of Yankee captain Derek Jeter.
At home games in The Bronx, things between the two photogenic actresses are frostier than the new stadium’s $9 beer, according to spies.
“There’s been visible coldness between Minka and Kate,” an insider told The Post’s Lachlan Cartwright. “I don’t know if it’s a personal thing, or just an extension of the ongoing A-Rod-Jeter rivalry.”
Our source added, “People are choosing sides.”
“Friday Night Lights” hottie Kelly has been dating Jeter since last year. Since then, she’s usually cheered him on from his private seats, kept a low profile and has rarely been photographed with him.
Then, high-profile Hudson arrived on the scene. She’s been snapped smooching A-Rod in the stands, and recently switched from sitting in a private box to hanging in the family seats, cheering on the team with Yankee wives including Amber Sabathia and Karen Burnett.
Hudson, who also enthusiastically attended the Bombers’ family picnic, seems to have gotten an early thumbs-up from veteran Yankee wives Michelle Damon and Laura Posada, whose stamp of approval is crucial, a source said.

I would never comment on these kinds of nonsensical non-stories but I just can’t resist this time…
Just like everything else between Jeter and A-Rod, the Jeter side is behaving like a little, petty, grudge-holding bitch. Even Jeter’s woman has her ass wound tight like her man?
August 13th, 2009 at 2:43 pm
FWIW, when I asked someone I know who has a connection to the Yanks Clubhouse about this, they said:
Yep! Like boyfriend … like girlfriend. Babies who will never grow up.

WTF are you talking about? You have such an anti-Jeter bias. Even when his bird keeps a bloody low profile, he’s being petty? In my opinion, Arod is a shameless starf%&ker who craves attention constantly. I give St Derek credit at least he’s keeping a lower profile, he doesn’t have to parade every hussy he cavorts with unlike that media whore,Aroid!

The scientific instrument fine enough to measure my interest in this stuff has not been invented yet.
Well, that’s too arch, I suppose; but really, how is anyone supposed to take this stuff…the interpersonal relationship of two women who are the significant others of two ballplayers…lives I cannot even imagine myself living in any real sense.
I mean, what is my reaction supposed to be? I haven’t the slightest idea.

I agree with butchie, MJ’s slant against Jeter is crazy. Jeter has been a model citizen in every sense of the word.
A-Rod has been behaving quite well this season and he is on the Yanks, therefore I root for him, but to say anything disparaging against Jeter for the sake of making A-Rod look better is just stupid. MJ, seriously, whateva.

I find it funny and don’t take it serious, but when you do and you want to use this as fuel to somehow paint Jeter as a bad guy is stupid. Actually, A-Rod/Jeter, this is funny story but not anything to be used against either player. The minute you do, especially when it’s against A-Rod, then you have serious issues.

Jeter has been a model citizen in every sense of the word.
————
In every sense of the word but one: his dealings with A-Rod. Jeter’s not a bad human but he’s not perfect, just as the rest of us are imperfect. His one frailty as a man (that I know of or can discern as an outside observer) is how he has treated this one individual teammate.
Argue on Jeter’s behalf all you like but no one will ever convince me that Jeter has behaved completely reasonably with Rodriguez.
August 14th, 2009 at 8:20 am
True story – I’m watching the start of the game last night with my wife and YES said that Jeter was playing, Posada would in the next game, but A-Rod might miss a few games, as they showed the clips of everyone getting hurt against the Jays.
My wife then says to me “A-Rod is a wuss. How come he’s sitting it out when Jeter and Posada got hit just as bad, if not worse?”
Joking, I said to her “There’s a bigger issue, you know. Minka Kelly is giving Kate Hudson the cold shoulder!”
She looked at me and said “Kate Hudson is going out with A-Rod, right?” And, I said yes. Then, she said:
“Who the hell is Minka Kelly?”
Ouch.

Problem was, what Rodriguez said in 2001 was correct. Not only that, for a while, Jeter was ranked 3rd behind Garciaparra & Rodriguez. Also, since their time with the Yanks, Rodriguez has posted better numbers than Jeter.
Anyway, I don’t see what the big deal is, they’re not the first pair of teammates not to like each other and they won’t be the last.

Jeter can get over it. And even if he can’t, it’s his responsibility as leader of the team — even if he doesn’t wear the “C” on his shirt like Varitek does — to get over it on a professional level.
Anyway, it hardly matters. Jeter will take this one little ounce of pettiness to his grave and that’s his problem, not mine.

Has Jeter ever been less than a “pro” with respect to how he’s treated A-Rod or referred to him in public? Ever?

Yes, absolutely. We both know what I’m referring to but let’s not get into it, as that topic was beaten badly into the ground in 2006.

what about when he didn’t stick up for a-rod after the steroid thing came out like he did for the big G?

FWIW, Chad Gaudin has them both beat.

With Aroid, it seems that he craves attention:good or bad. Inherently, that might have to do with daddy issues but tons of people who have those backgrounds don’t act like him. Arod’s antics start to wear on one after awhile…….

It isn’t so much that he keeps it out of private view, it’s that Rodriguez has been a target since $252M/10. The emphasis is on Rodriguez, always has been, always will be, because of who he is, and the contract he signed.

It’s continuing conversations like this that lead to A-Rod never being accepted by our fan base. St. Derek vs. the terrible, awful, intolerable A-Rod that kicks puppies in the face and is the evil spawn of Hitler.
As a Yankee fan ask yourself, what matters to you more? Do you care more that Alex dates a hot girl who happens to not like Jeter’s girl, or do you care more that Alex is playing on a half-healthy hip and heavily contributing to the success of this squad?
As Yankee fans, I think we all know what matters more. Appreciate Alex for his bat and glove, the team wouldn’t have been as successful without him since 2004.

Raf, no offense ,are you are paying attention to a different individual from a parallel universe perhaps? Look, I rip St Derek when need be, but when you see Jeter , he’s not cavorting with strippers, having his starlet girlfriend front and center in the stadium AND ruining his marriage for some old shreiking harpie. When you see Jeter he’s doing charity OR he stays at the All Star Game, when other media whores like Arod leave! ARod is such a train wreck off the field that almost anything he touches turns to tin….King Midas in reserve if you will.
Raf, Arod is a mess ,pure and simple. A lot of Yankee fans, have unrealistic expectations of him and that is a bit much. However, when they thought they were getting the greatest player of his era(Pujols is arguably that right now) and he dissapoints with not being superclutch OR not being a model citizen it sticks in their craw. quite frankly, Arod brings a lot of this mess upon himself. I don’t remember the Golden Boy Jeter trying to slap a ball out of Braid Boy Arroyo’s hands in the ALCS? That was Alex. Remember when he yelled out Ha/I got It back in Toronto, when has St Derek done anything like that?
Crank, it’s unfortunate that a lot of fans are tough on Arod. I have denigrated him for his deplorable off the field behavior but rather praised him for his work ethic nad what he brings to the day to day game. Yeah, it’s unfortunate that Yankee fans are so caught up in this Golden Boy vs Afraud argument. I think that when the Yanks win with Alex a lot of this crap will die down……until he goes to Toronto and gets into another fine mess….

Combine that with the contract he signed in Texas. People here have an unhealthy obsession with celebrity. That’s the reason why Rodriguez gets the negative press instead of Jeter. If Jeter was more “colorful” he’d get the press. If Rodriguez was more media savvy, kissed the media’s ass a bit more, he’s get better press. He’s not the first to cavort with a stripper, he’s not the first to use gamesmanship in a game, he’s not the first to have a starlet gf.
NY fans and media really need to get over themselves when it comes to Rodriguez, and treatment of him. He signed a big contract. He’s banging starlets. Big f’n deal. Stop sipping the haterade, and enjoy one of the best players in the history of the game.

Raf, interesting to note how Pujols is now being called the best player in baseball instead of Arod. Is Arod that crestfallen after the steroid scandal. Raf, it’s not that I’m on the crucify Arod committe BUT objectively he has been a PR nightmare for the team. The weinies who booed him were booing him because he didn’t hit 5 run home runs every time out NOT because he ended up with that harpie with the new name of esther AKA Madonna! I applaud his work ethic nad for the most part his play on the field, but he needs to grow up outside of the baseball arena,so to speak.

They go hand in hand with each other. That is the only reason why his off field antics get so much play. If it were just about what happens on the field, it’s one thing, but it isn’t. You’ve admitted as much when you said “objectively he has been a PR nightmare for the team.”

Raf, I have to agree to disagree with you. There are times when Arod hasn’t been superclutch and the fans let him have it. His off the field antics add to the pandemonium BUT if he was worth the 27 mill plus, he wouldn’t get this derision. Whereas Jeter keeps a relatively low profile, Arod seemingly wants to act in a f%^ked up fashion. ARod piles on to his on the field woes with his idiotic behavior off the field BUT they remain mutually exclusive. Why? Just because he was not Mr Clutch in the past, it didn’t give give the right to make a spectacle of himself publicly. When I say that he has been a PR nightmare, let me make this clear: that is because of his own stupidity in the public eye. Yes, the exemplar for the Yankee brand is St Derek and guess what? Afraud could learn a thing or two from him about how to go about your business outside of the ballgame.Nuff said…..
