Man, if you take out those 395 batters faced this season by Sergio Mitre, Damaso Marte, Anthony Claggett and Chien-Ming Wang, then the Yankees pitching this season has been super. And, on the hitting side, check out Godzilla and A-Rod. A case can be made that Matsui’s bat this season, to date, has been just as valuable to the Yankees as Alex Rodriguez’ stick.

Also, nice bounceback seasons from Jeter and Cano and Cabrera. Damon improved too, correct?

Yes, Jeter -2 to +21 RCAA, Cano -18 to +14 RCAA, and Melky -20 to -3 RCAA,

Damon, for the record, had 25 RCAA last year too

Cool. I distinctly remember Jeter, Cano & Cabrera being a problem last year. And Molina got far too many at bats. Not going to win many games when over 1/3 of your offense is having trouble.

      @ Steve Lombardi:
RCAA is a counting stat, however, so Damon’s RCAA rate has definitly improved, and he will have a much higher # at the end of the year (most likely).

FWIW, it’s a counting stat – but, the number can go down – if Damon tanks from here out.
