With this win, the Yankees are the first team in baseball to reach 75 wins this season. Sweet.
This was the first time in 6 years, and 6 tries, that C.C. Sabathia pitched a good game in Oakland. And, it came at a good time. Nice job as well on throwing behind Kurt Suzuki in the first inning. Speaking of behind Kurt Suzuki…
Hey, Melky, don’t forget to send Suzuki some flowers this morning after the good time he showed you in this one.

i hate west coast games. It’s too difficult to stay up for the duration when you have work the next day.
As an aside, how seriously horrible are the A’s when CC has to retaliate against their best hitter…and it’s only Kurt Suzuki…
I wonder if Giambi were still on the team, if that’s who the HBP target would’ve been.
I’m not one to question these moves. I think when a key player is thrown at intentionally you need to retaliate and make a point, but did CC really need to retaliate last night? It was pretty obvious that in a tie game, early, Mazzaro was not trying to hit A-Rod. He let one get away from him and it was a mistake. Did CC really need to throw a 95 mph fastball behind Suzuki?
Just a “what if” scenario, but what if CC slightly overthrew it and the ball traveled behind Suzuki but closer to the neck and head? That’s a suspension and we miss him for a key start in August because we felt the need to throw at a hitter on the last place, 20-games-back A’s.
Sometimes I just question the retaliation pitches. All for retaliation if A-Rod was plunked on purpose, but not when a 22-year-old kid misses his spot early.
You’re welcome Yankee fans. That is all.
