here;s a wild thought: what about taking a flyer on wagner for the rest of the year?

      http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/08/wagner-placed-on-waivers.html

Granted, I’d like to see him get in a few mlb games before-hand, but if u could pick him up for nothin, then buy him out next year, why not? its only a couple million, and if he could bounce back he’d make that pen all the more awesome. Then, perhaps, you could take hughes and stretch him out a little to give him some extra innings for this year (and to raise the limit for next). Plus, that’d be the end of Mitre (or Gaudin) and thats fine with me.

Then again, perhaps it’s overkill? I guess that’s why the call them wild thoughts eh?

My gut feeling is that Wagner will be claimed long before the Yankees get a chance.

Yuck, I’ll pass on Bill Wagner. He’s Brad Lidge before Brad Lidge was himself. Fireballing, yes. Disastrous in the playoffs? That too.

The west coast trip gave Yankee fans an opportunity to listen to what I think should be the lead team on YES, Singleton and Flaherty. They work well together both did play by play and both allowed the games to be the star.

I’d like YES to team Flaherty and Singleton in as many games as possible (the lead team) with Kay (who is under contract through 2011) heading up the back up team. Paul O’Neill would be good as the color man if he is willing to work a few more games. Leiter and Cone are about the same (Dave is a little more lively) pick one and let the other go.

The Yankee radio situation couldn’t possibly be worst so anything outside of bringing Fran Healy into the mix would be an improvement.

Anything to get rid of Kay. Too bad it’ll never happen.
