1st Rounder Makes Yankee Debut

Slade Heathcott made his yanks debut (albeit the Gulf Coast League Yankees) going 1-3 with his first professional base hit, a single.
Here’s a link to the box score.
He batted lead off, and played center field…two things we could definitely use in the future. So here’s to you, Slade, we hope you have a very bright career in the Bronx.

I’ll definitely drink to that. From among the positional prospect corps, I’m rooting for Heathcott (’09), Adams (’08) and Montero (’07) the most. I really hope they all turn into something special.
should be noted that J.R. Murphy is also starting off well for the GCL Yanks, he’s 6/15 with 2 runs batted in

Good to hear. The Yanks have loaded up on catchers over the past few years (Cervelli, Montero, Romine, Higashioka) so it’s only a boon for the organization if Murphy does great. He’s still young and probably has at least 3 years of development ahead of him but you can never have enough catchers, as long as you know what to do with them.
I look at the Rangers last year and shake my head that they didn’t do a better job of managing their catching assets.
I can’t decide whether Slade Heathcott is the best name ever or the worst name ever. I generally lean toward the former, but then I see things like “Here’s to you, Slade,” and I think, well, maybe not.
@ Justin:
lol, would “Here’s to you, Zach” be better for you?
