    Me? Well, I wouldn’t have flipped Kenny Rogers and Mo Rivera in 1996. So, I doubt that I would flip Chamberlain and Hughes now…

      Ugh…The problem with the Yanks is that they seem to take promising young starters and turn them into short-stint relievers. Now the transition back to starter not only requires a change in mentality and role but a training period so that the pitcher’s arm can get stretched out again.

      I see what Neyer is saying but I think it’s a little late in the game for this kind of switch.

      in addition to what MJ said, how do we know Hughes the starter is any better than Joba the starter?

      Good point, we don’t. I suppose Neyer is relying on the fact that Hughes, like #62, has the stuff (and MiLB track record) to lead us to believe that he could be an effective and possibly dominant starter at the big league level.
