Here's a thought. As well as being a RH batter Jeter has less of a dkscrepancy between his career Batting Average (BA) and Secondary Average (SecA):

Player BA SecA

Jeter .317 .289
Gwynn .338 .265
Ichiro .333 .223
Carew .328 .248
Keeler .341 .192

Jeter is too much of a "slugger" to belong to this group.

you know, you always hear about guys like Rod Carew, Tony Gwynn and Ichiro Suzuki being magicians with the bat because of their ability to make contact and place hits “where they ain’t.” How come we never hear that about Jeter? He does it, no? Maybe it’s a bias against right-handed batters or something?
--------
Good question. I guess I never thought about it that way but you're right.
