#62 goes for the Yanks today as they try to complete the four-game sweep and drop Tampa’s AL East elimination number down to 4. Can he do it? Can he show up for work prepared and willing to be coached by Girardi, Eiland and Posada? I seriously hope so…
postseason magic # down to 13
@ Corey:
or A-rod if you will
@ clintfsu813:
lol ya…everyone’s doin that. I’ve also noticed everyone has the magic # to the divsion, but..really..who cares how they get in? As far as I’m concerned, once they clinch a postseason spot, it’s time for the b-squad to play till the last few games and i’ll cheer on shelley.
@ Corey:
Lohud says its Munson as of now
@ clintfsu813:
aye, that’s for the division.
If anyone else has any thoughts, etc. on this:

today, they would be welcomed and appreciated as well. Thanks in advance.
I’m cool with whatever works for you. I love all the posts but understand you may have a personal life as well, lol. I also think Corey, Mj, etc. have been doing a great job filling in.
@ Steve Lombardi:
i’d like to reverberate MJ’s statements…this blog is great, and I really enjoy your writing. I feel like around this time (usually a little later, once the season is done) you go through this “dead arm” period for blogging, and it’s completely understandable. There’s a lot of work that goes into maintaining a blog like this, and I totally understand if you’d like to back down on the throttle a little bit. I’d prefer not, but of course that is just me being selfish. Lately ive been really busy here at work and at home, so I havn’t had much time to scour the news sites to help you with some posts, but that should end soon..perhaps if MJ and I started posting like we were during the week while you were gone that would help? (Then we were posting our thoughts as well as the news links that we were doing otherwise)

It’s worth doing whatever you’d like, as it’s your blog and you control the style and content. I do enjoy the way it works right now, the frequent posts keep us coming back numerous times of the day so we see what others are writing and can respond to them.
I feel one long post may kill traffic, but I can certainly be wrong.
@ Corey: Thanks. That could be an answer – bringing in more guys, and having the “news” guys start posting some news links – and then there’s less for me to do.
@ YankCrank: Lose traffic? You assume that I have some to lose?
@ clintfsu813: Thanks. That’s a huge part of it – other things that I want to do, personally, LIKE SLEEP, that some of those 90 hours a month could be spent on.

I’m happy to pitch in and help as much as possible. I just haven’t been because I don’t want to step on your toes. But if you want me to start writing more to ease your burden, I’m happy to do so.
@ MJ:
that’s actually how i felt too, i didn’t want to step on your toes.
you already know all of this and multiple others have echoed it, but i don’t think even one of your regulars would want you to spend one second on this site that you’d rather be spending with your family, on your own personal time, etc. that should be the biggest factor in your decision.
that aside, my opinion is that one of this site’s biggest strengths, if not its biggest, is the average length (not long) and regularity (frequently) of the posts. a lot of information on a lot of different topics that doesn’t take that long to take in. so in this sense one longer post would be a negative thing.
conversely, two frustrating parts about this site would be solved by going to longer, less frequent posts. first, the comments sections would be more centralized. a lot of times there are debates bubbling that fizzle because there are so many different convos going on at once in so many different posts. one of the best things about this site is how manageable the number of regular readers is, and in conjunction with their general knowledge of the game, it makes for a good place to talk. less frequent posts solves this issue.
second, sometimes you really hammer away at certain issues to an unecessary point. 100 posts this season about what the yankees win/loss record is against certain teams is probably not a good usage of your time, and could be eliminated with little loss of value to the site if you are looking to cut back. longer and less frequent posts would probably curtail this as well.
there are pros and cons on both sides. you should do what’s best for you, and i’ll appreciate whatever level of effort you’re able to put into the site.

By far, the best thing about WW.com. There are other Yankee sites that are good and/or interesting to read and provide valuable information/analysis but NONE of them are a place where good conversation can take place. It’s either overcrowded, full of dolts that have simplistic views of the game, an insult-fest, or all three…
Having guys like MJ and Corey pitch in more often would be an excellent idea IMHO. The variety of topics and conversations that go on here has been the biggest draw for me and it seems that could be preserved with having those guys posting.
@ MJ:
I agree MJ..i like the feeling of our own special little community here on WW.
@ MJ: I have no toes!
Post away!
@ Corey: See above.
Pat F wrote:
thanks
as a side note, anyone interested in doing a WW outing for a playoff game to a bar in the city?
Corey wrote:
Yes, absolutely. Count me in 100%.
Steve Lombardi wrote:
Steve, I’m sorry to hear you have no toes. It must be hard to walk!
@ Corey:
Absolutely.
Corey wrote:
Absolutely. Actually, I think i’m going to just start posting in here when I head to a game and if any WW’s are there i’ll gladly buy them a drink and say hello.
Anyone know where I can get video clips online from our 4 titles? Doing project on Yanks in WS from ’96-00.
clintfsu813 wrote:
I know MLB sells the DVD’s of those titles which means it might be hard to find them online since that would technically violate copyright law (unless MLB was paid for the distribution rights).
Your best bet might just be to rent it from Netflix/Blockbuster/Hollywood…

Which brings up one of my biggest pet peeves: why the “eff” do the goddamn Red Sox get their own WS videos in 2004 and 2007 — meaning all the games individually — but the Yanks have to settle for a goddamn compilation video from the ’96-’01 era?
I’d buy each World Series DVD and I’m sure I’m not alone. Why would MLB not just put out each WS DVD for each champion? How does this make sense?
I feel like Yankee fans are getting gypped here and MLB is cutting off its nose to spite its own face…
Thanks MJ. About a month ago, Steve posted a link where I found Jeter’s flip play from 2001. I cant even find that anymore.
