• Peter Abraham To Join The Boston Globe

Click here to read the story. This is a huge loss for the Yankees blogosphere. If Pete wasn’t the best at what he does, he’s certainly in the team picture…and it’s a very select team. And, this is a huge win for the Boston Globe.

I wish Pete all the best. A better job, probably more security and better compensation, closer to home and family…I think we would all jump on that one. At least Pete will be covering a team that Yankees fans have an interest in…so we can keep reading him. (If he was going to cover the Padres or the A’s, this would not be the case.)

And, I would bet that the Journal News will have someone coveriing The LoHud Yankees Blog to keep our interest in their blog.

But, it won’t be 100% the same with Pete off the Yankees beat and not blogging about them…not even close.

Again, this is a huge loss for the Yankees blogosphere. But, personally, I’m happy for Pete. He’s worked very hard and deserves all the good things coming his way.

I was sad to hear about this. I check his site at least twice a day. Good luck to Pete!

Wow, that’s a tremendous loss for his newspaper. His was the only “mainstream media” blog worth a darn in terms of frequency of posts and overall interaction with his audience. Kepner’s blog is more along the lines of “quick hits” and Mark Feinsand doesn’t post frequently enough or stay ahead of the topic curve enough to warrant regular visits. The Yankee information superhighway just got a little less interesting and important.

Obviously the man has to do what is best for his professional advancement as well as what’s best for his family and loved ones. I’m sure anyone that grows up wanting to be a writer and is from the Boston area would be thrilled to take over the Red Sox assignment in his own hometown.

…but I won’t lie, this stings a lot and feels like a betrayal of sorts. Of course, I know it isn’t and I know why he’s doing it and I would’ve done the same thing…but it still feels that way. His posts had such a level of intimacy with the players and the coaches that when you see him doing the same thing with the Red Sox, it’ll really feel like we’re a jilted lover.

I guess if it hurts this bad it must mean that I really loved Pete Abe and all that he did for us on the blogosphere.

Good luck to him…but “eff” the team he’s covering. I hope he covers a last place team up there for the next 100 years.

Well, this was completely unexpected. A lot of my day is spent between lohud and here, so a big part of my day to day will be missing. I will continue to read Pete if he does a blog at the globe, as I’ve been looking for a good sox blog so I can keep tabs on them as well. It’ll be interesting to see how Pete writes when he switches over to the Sox. In order to be successful, you have to at least appear to root for the team you cover. So, it should be interesting to see if the claws come out once he’s in bean town.

Wow. For those who have come to follow Pete’s blog this is a terrible loss. Very disappointing.
