Guess Who I Met Today…

I’ve mentioned in the past that I’m a fan of Sparky Lyle’s work as a Yankee. So, yes, it was a thrill to meet him today. He’s truly a nice guy. It’s not everyday that you get to meet a former Cy Young Award winner, for sure…

Nice, Steve.
Good to hear that.
Quite the shirt!
Patrick
@ Patrick: Thanks. LOL – there’s a story behind the shirt…
I got in after the 1998 WS at one of those “We Won” things that they used to set up after winning a ring…hardly ever wore it, because it was so loud. (An impluse buy.)
But, now, when we go out with the kids, to a crowded place, I usually try to wear something that they can spot, in case we get separated, etc. And, it’s the perfect shirt for that!
that’s really cool, Steve! Did you get to ask him anything that you’ve wanted to ask?
@ Corey:
Thanks. Nah, he signed a couple of baseballs for my kids, had his picture taken with them, and then I asked him if it was OK for “dad” to get one too. He was very cool about it. After the picture with me, I shook his hand and told him that it was great to meet him. And, he said thanks. That was more than enough for me.
If I did have the chance to say anything more to him, I would have told him thanks for savings the Yanks rear-end in the ‘77 ALCS…
One of the greatest clutch pitching performances in the Post Season: Sparky Lyle in the 1977 ALCS. Look it up an’ tell me it aint.
@ Tresh Fan:
You’ll get no beef from me on that!
