it also depends how tall you are...I don't consider myself a fast walker by any means, but since I'm a bit taller, my 1 step is about 1.5 steps of a shorter guy who walks fast, so I can keep up.

This entry certainly a random thought :D

I walk a lot too, but probably not as fast as Steve or our faster walkers in NYC. My uncle walks so fast, he's practically running :)

My speed is somewhere between "tourist" and "NY'er." Real NY'ers, not transplants. They don't walk as fast.

I can dig that. I used to walk 20 city blocks, in NYC, without even considering jumping on a subway first. I recall a few times, kickin' it into a 2nd gear, walking from Rockefeller Center to Penn Station, trying to catch a train to NJ.

When, of course, if I had taken the subway, I would have been there in 10 minutes.

My father in law is a notorious fast, and constant, walker, lol. He actually grew up in Brooklyn and worked as a runner in Manhatten when he was younger. My wife likes to mock him saying that when in NY he refuses to take taxis, stating.."It's only 50 blocks, we can walk it."
