Few weeks ago, someone said that we only beat bad teams and should send thank you cards to Minny, Mets and Baltimore.

I guess we arent too bad of a team when you look at that statistic.

It is a crapshoot, in that the better team simply doesn't win every time. Luck plays an enormous role. So do the matchups, both individual, and team vs. team. So does who's hot at the moment. So does will and effort. Talent should be a decisive factor, but isn't. There are not enough games in a short series for talent to be decisive in every case. Weaker teams sometimes beat better ones.

But no matter how it's won, it's still a title. There's still a trophy. The players still get rings. The banner is still raised the next Opening Day.

So to be accurate, it is a crapshoot to which excessive permanent meaning is attached.

It is therefore a meaningful crapshoot. :)

But, I thought the post-season was just a crapshoot and meant nothing? ;-)

I see; now that the Yanks have evened the season's series against the Angels and Red Sox...not even they are good teams anymore.

Well, the Yanks are 5-5 vs. the Angels, 9-9 vs. the Sox. 4-3 vs. the White Sox (who were a good team once upon a time, but not anymore), 5-1 vs. the Tigers, 7-0 vs. the Twins, 5-4 against the Rangers, 10-5 against the Rays, and 2-1 against the Braves.

So, what's left? The Phillies and Marlins?

The Yanks have played just over half their games against teams that are over .500 for the season. Half their wins are against these teams. They are the only team in baseball with a .600 record vs. these teams. They have the best record in baseball against teams whose record is .525 or better.

I mean, can't we just wait for the playoffs, and see if they're good enough to win the tournament?
