		<description>Saw Jete doing some of these at Himes Complex in Tampa in mid-Jan. Probably helped, but healing up his leg and hand injuries from last year mattered as much as anything. Plenty of life left in him.</description>

Yeah, I&#039;d say so.  It&#039;s probably a lot of things (hitter-friendly ballpark, better defensive positioning, slightly improved pitching staff, etc.) but it&#039;s certainly not a bad thing for an old dog to work hard to stay in shape in order to run with the young pups that normally man the shortstop position.

Kudos to Jeter for working hard in the off-season.  Hopefully he keeps it up and has another great year next year.</description>
