I said this in the other thread, but it may get buried…Did anyone else see Torre put Jeff Weaver in the game in relief, with the bases loaded aside from me and JeremyM? And watch Weaver get out of it? I swear I saw a pig flying in the background.

Agree completely. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: how on earth Torre was permitted to bat his best hitter (Matt Kemp) in the bottom third of the lineup for more than half a season is beyond me. This chronic nose-picker belongs as far away from the Yanks as possible. I can’t imagine Kemp likes playing for Torre…

took him all of 2 days… its the same Pete who talked down to anyone who wudcomment that Joba is a bullpen guy.. for evidence he wud point to Joba’s efforts as a starter inFenway last year…

my only wish is that the Dodgers players watch what they say, God forbid they complain their cofee is not hot… for it may be in his ‘Dodgers years’.. i wonder when those ‘Met and Cards’ years books are scheduled to come out.
the funny thing is i saw on article on SI saying that he pulled a gem and this is the way he will manage them to a Ring.. well if those pen dudes still havean arm in their socket..

Funny about Pete Abraham. I can’t say that I’m surprised. I sent him a farewell email telling him that I greatly enjoyed his work and would miss him but that I didn’t plan to read his work in Boston because I knew we New Yorkers were going to be jilted lovers while he ingratiated himself to his new audience with the same derisive “those guys suck” banter that made him so popular here in New York. If you disconnected your head from your heart for a few minutes a day while reading him on LoHud, you’d almost think he was a Yanks fan. Anyway…
So, I just looked at Abraham’s new blog up in Boston. I’ll say this much: it proves my own personal theory that “they” were always more obsessed with us than we were obsessed with them. They had a full-time Boston beat writer (Nick Cafardo) doing live blogs from Yankee Stadium last night. That makes them even more provincial and paranoid than I originally thought. Effin’ losers…

Pete is smart: feeding red meat to the lunatic fans who read his blog. I will miss that meat.
Regarding Sox fans’ obsession with Yanks: I have long noticed that NESN provides constant updates of Yankee games while YES will usually just make note of the Sox final score. (And I am referring to early and mid-season games.)

Not that Pete would ever pick the Westchester paper over the Boston paper but I do think that he’ll probably miss his relevance just a little bit. As one of those commenters said on that blog post, there are more writers than commenters on the new blog and even referred to the old LoHud site. No regrets for Pete, I’m sure, but being a smaller fish in a bigger pond will take some getting used to.
Separately, I 100% agree. I can’t wait to read Jennings and to have him feed us first-hand info on the kids he saw for the past 3 years.
