Funny that espn.com still hasn’t blogged on the Yanks win or the Soxs loss as of 1:10 EDT, they must be hysterical over there…….

No doubt about it, something has happened to the Boston Red Sox in the last two seasons. Call it “The Curse of Manny” if you will; but the Bosux just don’t scare anyone anymore.

It’s just funny to look back at the beginning of the season when the Red Sox had all the depth in the world, and that said depth was more praised for being smarter and more affordable than what the Yankees put together. We talked about it before, but it was said on ESPN that Brad Penny and John Smoltz were going to win more games than CC Sabathia and AJ Burnett.

Then they won the first 8 games and were labeled as in a higher class than the Yanks. We all know how it finished though, and it’s so sweet. I hope they enjoy their early offseason this year.

It’s nothing new, but us signing Tex and stealing him away from Boston was the turning point of the season. They have Tex, and they’re the team that wins 100+ and is moving on to the ALCS right now. And yes, I believe the turning point of a season can be in the offseason…

The Boston Red Sox were quite probably the most over-rated team in this post season: A solid, deep starting rotation, a “lights out” bull pen backed up by the incomparable Jonathan Papelbon, gold glove fielding, a diverse offensive attack (power AND speed) from an intimidating line-up, a home field intimidation factor unlike any other in MLB, a suddenly resurgent David Ortiz, and a managerial genius at the controls.

They went down with barely a fight.

Well, now the Yanks 9 wins out of 10 vs. the Red Sox doesn’t count. They’re obviously not a good team after all.

And how about another heads up play by Jeter? I mean, wow.

I wanted them to get stretch a bit too, but seeing Papelbon completely melt down was completely worth it. I hate to have schadenfreude, but in his case, I’ll definitely make an exception. Much as I have enjoyed K-Rod’s struggles.

Absolutely wonderful. Not that the Angels swept — I’d have preferred that they got stretched out to the limit — but that those smug Boston bastards got absolutely undressed in three straight games. Papelbon is unbearable so it really couldn’t have happned to a nicer guy.
