This is a valid point. But so is the thinking that, in the post-season, you use who you must, when you must, to kill off rallies as they happen, and let the 15th inning take care of itself.

Joba could’ve gone longer, but that would’ve messed with Hughes’ head. Aceves could’ve gone longer, but only at the cost of allowing Morales to bat left-handed in Yankee Stadium in the 12th inning of a tied game in the ALCS.

Basically my thought on this matter is that the more you cycle through your relievers, hte better chance you have of finding the one that doesn’t have his stuff that day.

He kinda bugs me with the way he burns through the bullpen. I still think Joba can go longer than 1/3 and Phil longer than 2/3. It almost backfired on him last night.
