I don't know if anybody is still paying attention to this thread, but if so, one MIA I'm curious about is Melanie Greenberg. I used to like to read Struck Out Looking, but it's been frozen in time for many weeks now. Anybody know what's up with that?

RJG = Respect Jeter's Gangster. I like the light comic relief. Look on the side column under Best of RJG or some such title for Derek Jeter Emoticon Interview for a sample.

I'll probably feel like a dunce for asking, but what's RJG?

I'd put it more like 99.9%. For as great as Pete Abe's site was, his commenters were pretty darn lousy.

I miss the regulars on the blog that Kat was the last to keep alive. As a stable group of civil, articulate, varied, mostly intelligent and well-informed fans it lasted several years, with a couple of successive hosts -- one of those sites where the discussion among commenters was the real point, though I was a fan of Kat's reporting. Once she left it died the death.

Nowadays RAB, waswatching, replacement level, and RJG are the places I always check in and occasionally comment. Pete Abe was usually a good read, though 95% of his commenters were a waste of bandwidth and I rarely took the time to sift through looking for the few worth reading. I think the new guys will be able to keep it moving along -- the lack of a provocative personality like Pete will lose it some followers but will probably also make his band of trolls lose interest.
