Vinny, Swish & Mo [No, Not "The" Mo] Have Their Shirts In A Bunch BA Ranks Yanks’ MiLB Prospects By League (Part II)
Oct 19

Today’s wild thought is powered by the book I’m currently reading

What will happen if A-Rod, even with all the great things he’s done, already, this post-season, has a “Fred Snodgrass 1912 World Series” moment…in the World Series this year for the Yankees?

Personally, right now, I think it could become a Bill Buckner type thing for Alex…if it happens.

Some will want him run out of town whereas others will feel sorry for him…getting blame for losing a series when it’s not proper, in their belief, to blame one person for overall defeat in a series of games played by a team.

What do you think will happen, if this does occur? Or, do you have to wait and see what happens before you could make a call on it?

Even with his great October 2009 numbers, I think there will be a core of Yankee fans who will never like A-Rod. He could pull a Reggie Jackson in the 1977 World Series, and give each fan a new car a la Oprah, and there will still be a fans who will be calling him names. So I don’t think his hitting so far in October buys him that much protection if he were to screw up somehow. I really don’t.

Agoat/afraud/aroid has already pulled the choke move in the ALCS. It’s been done before, so no surprise if it happens again. BUT he’s been great so far, so I hope that continues. Anything can happen in baseball and if the Yanks do make it to the Fall Classic and face Philly or LA who knows what happens. If he continues to do well and the Tankees then lose well… it’s not on him any longer. He’s not cursing the team to those of you who believe in that superstitious claptrap……..

@ NewStadiumInsider : are you a troll? Do you remember the 2004 ALCS? In an alternate universe called the Twilight Zone ,Aroid hit 10 home runs in the World Series gainst the Cards and still lost, right? Wrong………

Losers need a whipping boy and it will, and can only be ARod.
Vlad, in a healthy amount of PS play, has a .642 OPS (over 100 PA). He left 10 men on base yesterday. Hear any Angels fans calling for his head? ARod has a horrid PS OPS of .901.

Willie Mays, with a career .941 OPS, had a career PS OPS of .660 (in 99 PA).
Anyone ever hear his name taken in vain?

The truth is a lot of people need to be critical, and a portion need to hate. ARod makes the money, gets the publicity and has a history of foot in mouth. So he is an easy choice.

Ultimately, ARods Last years will be a lot like Mickey’s, in that he will be appreciated and adored, as more records keep falling. Like Babe Ruth and Mickey Mantle being YANKEES, so shall be ARod. Once again, the greatest elite players in history will be wearing Pinstripes.
