Yanks will hit Phillies pitching. The competitiveness of the series all depends upon how well Phillies can hit Yanks pitching. If they do then it will be close and exciting and uncertain outcome. Otherwise, Yanks in 5.

As for Mets fans, they are wide-eyed, hysterical and still thinking about Beltran's called strike 3, Yadier's HR, Castillo's dropped ball, etc, etc....

Ah, yes, it's October and that means two things: The Yankees are playing for another championship, and Met fans are stewing in a pool of their own bitterness.

Btw, what happened to all those people who claimed they'd take Jose Reyes over Jeter now if they were starting a team?

Anyway, before anyone gets too worked up worrying about how overwhelming the Phillies are, here are two sobering words:

Brad Lidge

if the Mets fan cant watch too bad.. they can goto football
---------
Funny thing is that most Mets fans are Jets fans and they usually stink as bad as the Mets do. Both franchises are dogshit.

Who cares about the Mets and their sorry fans... i think its better we avoid Dodgers.. we will never hear the end of how Joe 'Yankee years' Torre got a team with half the payroll to the WS... with less resources... guiding a team of youth.. blah blah blah...i certainly dont want that headache

i think the Phils-Yanks series will be a cracker and dare i say we will start underdogs because of all those quality lefties... i donno if Hamels pitched against us in that 3 game series we had this year... but Hamels, Lee thats close to 4 starts... even though Hamels is struggling right now... and their lineup can be pesky and potent... Werth is the key...

if the Mets fan cant watch too bad.. they can goto football.. and if we win the WS over the Phils.. we wud have really earned it

Steve, I hope you don't mind if I include this link, but I interviewed a bunch of Met bloggers on this very subject. Needless to say, they're not taking it well:

I definitely fear/respect the Phils as a potential WS opponent. Their lineup is pretty darn deep -- almost like an AL team in that regard -- and although their rotation/bullpen seems pretty sloppy, Cliff Lee has proven himself in the AL already and has launched himself as a stud in the NL. If we make it to the WS and face the Phils, beating them would be a tall task.

I think the Dodgers would be a more favorable matchup for the Yanks for a number of reasons. I'd be more than happy to endure the media hoopla covering the Torre vs. Yanks angle if it would be better for the team to beat LA instead of the Phils.

As to the question about the Mets...sure, in some way it would be nice to see Mets fans totally disgusted with the WS matchup. But the truth is that Mets fans hate the Yanks more than they hate anyone else. So they'd probably do what most stupid, inferior fanbases would do...and root for the Phillies.
