OK, we’re about to start. Please, please, please Yankee hitters, do your jobs tonight.
Let’s get this show started on the right foot, Derek.
Derek starts it off in Game 5 just like Game 4…nice hit to RF!
Cap’n Love <3
Johnny David Damon!
Those two leadoff hits notwithstanding, Lackey already looks better tonight than in Game 1, stuff wise. 93 on his FB, good downward bite on his curve.
Outside.
Lackey’s stuff is WAY better tonight. 3-2 curveball on the outside corner. Tough to do anything with that.
UGH…that’s Alex’s worst AB of October so far.
Are we gunna do this again guys?
Lackey’s CB is tremendous so far
Matsui’s been October silent for years now.
RISP FAIL
Bad follow up after the promising start.
Kinda makes you wonder, though, even if the CB is good, why wouldn’t you just look CB at this point? He threw CB’s to Teixeira and Matsui…how do you not look for it if that’s all he threw for 3 straight batters (with 1 FB to A-Rod)

He’s never been the same in October since Pedro dusted him in Game 5 in 2004.
That 3-2 pitch to Tex was the turning point of the entire inning. Give a lot of credit to Lackey.
Hmmm…I kinda had a feeling Burnett was due for one of “these” games.
YankCrank wrote:
Oh, I definitely give him credit. He looks better stuff-wise tonight than last Friday.
Good start AJ. Walk the guy who can’t hit.
Oh boy… bad call on Tex.. but ARod n Matsui dont pick him up… typical of Yankee season.. the LOB stat is an eyesore..
Well I suppose Game 6 will be a reality…
Let’s try to get out of this allowing only one run.

Never mind

Did anybody else smell a start like this from AJ? Looks like you’ll be heading to Game 6.
Like I said, I had a feeling AJ was due for a complete shit-fest. I love his personality but I don’t trust him one bit.
Let me tell you, to be up 3-1 and to go to a Game 6…doesn’t make me feel good, even if CC is the Game 7 pitcher.
Reminds me of 2003 when we shot all our bullets just making it to the WS and then our staff and ‘pen was shot and had nothing left…
Wow, 3-0 with no outs. This game is already in the books. Christ.
I thought BP was over
Well, this sucks. I had a feeling AJ would have nothing but I’ve felt like that for all of his starts, so what do I know?
AJ can’t even throw a good strike. Time to get Chad up.
get someone in here before this turns into Game 6 of the 2001 WS
Jesus AJ, thanks for not showing up in the biggest start of your career and the biggest start of our season.
Its like they know exactly whats coming
The worst thing is that now Girardi will burn THE ENTIRE pen thinking that this game is salvageable. Just concede defeat, let AJ get hammered and move onto Game 6.
MJ wrote:
That’s all you can really say. These are the starts you pay him $15 million+ a year for.
Tipping pitches?
HE GOT AN OUT!!!!!
Eh, you could bring in Gaudin, and if he’s got nothing then he can take the bullet.
Well, better pinch hit for Molina next inning.
This is getting brutal. Looks like it won’t be as big a fight as I expected to watch The Office later.
there goes the Molina theory
Juan Rivera not exactly busting it down the line.
Good old Juan Rivera, thank you.
Boy.. can i wake up now.. or is this inning official…
Can we stop all trying to hit solo HR???????
srivinodh wrote:
Yep, although it’s still the right move. You want to give the pitcher every chance for success.
The bright side is that Jeter/Damon got the no-hitter out of the way.
My tolerance for Joe Buck varies based on the score. For instance, right now I cannot stand Joe Buck. He just oozes smug Yankee hatred.
For our sanity, you have to assume he is tipping something right….
the outs are so loud… the hits are ringing
Since this game is getting uninteresting in a hurry, let’s start a pool – since FAUX is adding Ozzie Guillen as a studio analyst during the WS, you have to guess which game Ozzie says something that gets him fired.
MJ wrote:
absolutely, i agreed then… and now..would we have felt differentlyif he was being roasted in the 5th…maybe.. too hard todigest the 1st inning…
good comment Joe Buck
“only 3 come to the plate in 2 inning…haha”
UGH, I don’t have the stomach to watch this game.
Either the thread continues or it doesn’t, I don’t care. I’m outta here.
Moral of the story: be careful what you don’t fully wish for but think about in the back of your mind. Now I don’t even WANT to go to Game 6. Pettitte’s got a stinker in his arm too, I’m afraid.
Can we just play WITHOUT umpires???
Lol
I think ban the freeze cam, we know the close calls are all sucky
This game has no redeeming value other than the hope that we never again hear a single word about how babycakes functions better with his nanny at hand.
I’m getting really tired of Swisher’s slump.

@ Steve Lombardi:
or gets close enough that Fuentes pitches the 9th.
MJ returning in three…….two………one………
TEX$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
AWWW YEAH

I think it’s close enough now
BANZAI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MONEY MONEY MONEY!@#@! MATSUI!
Shouldn’t have taken Lackey out…Burnett is off the hook, for now.
That call rattled Lackey, and the Yanks started laying off the curveball.
@77yankees
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.
Did weaver cut his hair?
ROBBIE CANO, YOU BEAST!!!!!!!!!
YES!@# ROBBIE CANO!
Would you bring in Joba for the bottom of the 7th?
He may pitch to Mathis & Aybar only.
True.
Figgins hits better lefty so they may bring Coke or Marte to pitch to him, especially with Abreu following.
IT would feel so great to see the yanks celebrate in Cali
Shocking with Captain Hook Girardi leaving AJ in there.
Well, he had his wild inning already.
When did Jeff Mathis turn into Edgar Martinez?
I know! Good reference.
I was feeling better until I heard the magic names of Chamberlain and Marte mentioned as now warming up. What numbers would you assign them on the roster of most dependable relievers?
what the hell.
@ cr1:
Probably between Aceves & Gaudin
I’ll take the out.
@ 77yankees:
That.
same
Since when did Marte move above Coke as the reliable lefty?
That’s OK. One more out.
@ ken:
The only thing I can think of is that Coke can get both lefties and righties out, while Marte is, at best, a situational lefty.
Time for hughes to earn a lower uniform number
Yanks don’t have any lower uniform numbers left – lol.
he can take joba’s IF he gets Hunter….and he didn’t.
Young Hughes on the spot here.
GOD DAMNIT
All right, let’s get out of this tied.
Nice fastball RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE
@ 77yankees:
Yup.
This is not good.
yup i just might go to sleep.
How many pitches is he going to leave basically right down the middle?!
Light Bulb Head Buck bursts a vein cause the Angels take the lead.
Wait, so NOW you’re ahead in the count? Damn.
So I guess Scioscia is a genius.
For letting his hitters hit? Please, their bullpen is still pitching. Let’s see if weaver can do it.
@ g1ph7:
That was intended as sarcasm.
Gotta hold ‘em – I’ll take my chances w/Damon, Tex, & A-Rod in the 9th.
ken wrote:
errr, my bad
@ g1ph7:
No problem. Let’s just get out of this and get a run back.
NICE throw by Swisher
Fuentes is coming in – this is what we want.
And A-Rod is batting third.
2 Blown saves against the yankees this year.
Be interesting if they walk A-Rod whatever the situation
Matsui hits lefties……..watch out.
Yet Matsui is good against left handers.
looked like ball 4
Whew
Now that is ball 4, PR for Matsui?
MELTDOWN CITY.
COME ON, SWISH!!!!!!!
How ironic is it that Swisher is up for this.
Do it Swish
FOUL, NICE
argh. I thought the game was over
bad swings here
UGH, swinging at crap pitches.
JESUS, swing at more crap!
battle swish battle
just need a bloop garbage single
oohh baby
FULL COUNT
oh well
Back to New York….
damn
I don’t think it’s possible to have a worse season at the plate than Swisher. Ugh.
Well, hopefully this is just another blip. I’m very letdown by AJ and Hughes, this was in the bag and they blew it.
This one hurts… as much as game 4/5 against Bosox
The only good thing: Yanks stay in game form while Phillies sit it out for a week.
srivinodh wrote:
Huh? Not even close.
ken wrote:
Well i have never really recovered from that.. i need us to close this one Saturday for my sanity
@ srivinodh:
Understood but this is a very different team. I’ll go to war with Andy and CC. When Yanks lost game 5 in ’04 the pitching matchups for games 6 and 7 sealed the deal even before they played the games.
