I was wrong for jumping to that conclusion and I apologize to Evan (and to everyone else) for sounding like a dick

Thats what makes us Yankee fans right? At least thats what everyone thinks, lol. (P.S. Philly fans suck my balls)

@ Evan3457:
My apologies to you. I sincerely should've read your post with a more honest (and less defensive eye).

@ clintfsu813:
Couldn't agree more. I'd love to beat 'em on their field and to beat their best pitcher just so we can say we did. I'm all for adding to the psychological reservoir of success so beating the Angels (finally) and possibly beating Cliff Lee would be a nice bit of positive emotional baggage to carry around next year.

@ Corey:
Agreed. I was wrong for jumping to that conclusion and I apologize to Evan (and to everyone else) for sounding like a dick.

lol, took it too personally IMO, bro. He's kind of right, and is just saying that you don't have to jump off the deep end on every bad play as baseball is an emotional roller coaster. I don't think he was really making it out to be a bad thing...in fact I'd wager he was trying to help since you were legitimatly in distress.. I mean, you said Blanton was dominating the Yanks last night and even called him Cy Young. But, the thing is, that's how you watch baseball. I can't really say anything, since I understand it. I feel the emotions too. I'd bet that Evan does as well. I mean, we wouldn't all be here all the time if we didn't, right? Anyway, just tryin to clarify some beef between 2 good fellow fans.

No condescension meant at all. I meant what I said. There were no intentional shots in my post. All the things I "accused" you of, I have been "guilty" of in my time. And I see them everywhere I look. Check out a game thread anywhere people are allowed to post what they really feel, and you'll stuff as emotional as your postings in that thread. Check out a SOSH game thread, for example.

In time, even players who are struggling, like Posada was earlier last night, or like Joba has at times in the playoffs, will get their moment to shine. When a team wins a title, its hard for a player who has any significant playing time to get through the whole season without making a significant contribution; even a crucial contribution.

Anyway, the reward for your "investment" in this team is at hand. With any luck, some time between now and Thursday night/early Friday morning.

Dude, its all good. The headline says it all..a place for your/our ranting. Everything you wrote is what happens in all of our heads in a game like this. There are highs (Damon, CC, Arod) and lows (Joba, Tex, Cano). This game was nucking futs. I stillllll cant believe what happened. But thats why this team is special. They've been doing it all year. When the haters start telling us how we (hopefully) bought a Championship...we tell em... Money doesnt buy heart, or guts. And this team has both. Suck it haters...suck it long..suck it hard. Screw going back to NY..lets nail this bitch down tonight!

@ Evan3457:
I never said I don't have blind spots. I openly admit to hating Xavier Nady and #62 and I've grown to dislike Jorge Posada as well. Hatred is clearly a blind spot.

I guess, just as Steve opens himself up to critique/criticism in his blogs, I have done the same by exposing myself in these threads. In that sense, you've merely taken your shots that I've allowed you to take.

MJ, after reading through this quickly, let me say something about your commentary.

For the most part, it's very astute, but, like everyone else, you have your blind spots. I see this from many, many posters, where ever I look. Including me.

You cannot give up on a game before it's over. I've seen too many games like this one in my 40 years of being a Yankee fan. I've learned that there are crushing disappointments and fantastic, unbelievable rescues at the last moment.

There is no clock in baseball. The game is really, never over...until the last man is out. That's why baseball is the greatest of the major sports.

MJ wrote:

OK, I kept myself fairly bad company and came off as an obsessed, pessimistic psychopath.

It’s OK, whatever works.

Magic # = 1.

I wouldn't worry about it overly much. I see it in so many. Even a little in myself. It's just that after 40 years of doing it, I've gained a slight bit of perspective.

You really can't win every year. It's not always the manager's fault. Every team has its heroes and bobos.

Even the Bronx Zoo had Ed Figueroa, who never, ever pitched a good game in the post-season in 3 years with them.

Teams have stars, and they have players with flaws. The team with the fewest, or that conceals them best, wins it all, unless another team gets unusually lucky. It is perfectly possible to win titles with some mediocre players, even bad players, in starting roles.

And one last thing: it is a very rare loss that is one person's fault alone. Every dog has his day. Even Cano; even Joba.
