Lohud’s Sam Borden has the news :

It’s believed Cabrera could have suffered a full hamstring tear during Game 4

This shortens the line-up that much more in an NL ballpark.

I’m gunna be honest, this doesn’t break my heart.

Sorry, but his BA of .154 is the same as his slugging and OBP, which puts him at an amazing OPS of.308. He’s been very unproductive.

Start Brett Gardner, throw Guzman on the roster and use him for late inning running and defensive replacement and we’re fine.

I agree. I like Melky and he’s done OK in CF thus far but he’s done squat with the bat in the World Series. Gardner is at least no worse an offensive or defensive option here. They’re fungible (which is why they’re both 4th OF’ers in my opinion).

Guzman takes Gardner’s spot as PR although you suddenly have to rely on him to replace either Damon or Gardner in the OF which could be dicey since I don’t think he’s played an inning of defense yet with the Yanks.

While I agree that Melky hasn’t done that well at the plate this world series, he IS coming off a pretty damn good ALCS.
