OK ladies and gents, here we go…
Dear Andy, we desperately need you to do your job tonight. Please give us your best. We love you.
Nice defensive start for Mr. Jeter.
BTW, i’ll take 2 pitch outs every time.
Victorino gets a cheapie hit there. Annoying when that happens, especially an annoying guy like Victorino.
He’s got a Pedroia-like aura about him. He’s right on that border between hard-nosed and dirty…
I’m curious how this ump will call balls and strikes. Game 4′s ump was atrocious.
Love it. Beautiful DP.
3 outs in the books…
Something about Pedro’s doughy, shapeless face annoys me.
Come on Derek…let’s start this game off right.
Not that I realistically expect it to happen but wouldn’t it be great if the Yanks chased Pedro early and put another nail in the coffin of his career?
Damnit, I feel like the Yanks hit a lot of hard balls in this series that were right at Philly OF’ers.
You don’t often see a K on a changeup at the letters…
Tex works a full count…come on, horse-face, do something for a change.
off the end of the bat…a few more inches and it would’ve been 1-0. that’s teixeira’s best swing in several AB’s…hopefully an omen of things to come (but probably not)
Another nice defensive play for Teixeira…at least he’s not Giambi over there.
I’m not a scout but when I watch Werth swing, I wonder how he’s successful. Very rigid, not much communication between his eyes and his hands, just a giant uppercut hack. Bust him inside and you should be able to get him out, no?
Werth walks. At least one of those balls (the 2-1 fastball) was a strike. Boo.
Andy saws off Ibanez. 2 away.
McCarver just said Andy is staying away from the cutter in on righties…i wish someone had told andy to stay away from the cutter in on kendrick/vlad in game 3 of the ALCS
Well if you had “2nd inning” for when posada would make another poor defensive play behind home plate, you just won a gift certificate.
At what point do his teammates just tell Jorge to STFU every time he talks? You can’t lead if you suck at your job.
No harm no foul as posada snares the F-2
Pedro seems to want no part of Alex.
Hideki, baby, look curveball
Pedro’s gained 4 mph on his FB this inning from the last one.
Matsui’s hangin’ in there…ain’t nothin’ wrong with working Pedro’s pitch count up.
WOW! Hideki!
What an at-bat!!!!
One of the most underrated storylines for me is if the Yanks do actually manage to win this, Matsui finally gets his ring. I would be thrilled for him.
@ MJ:
In probably his last game as a Yankee.
OK Posada, go sit down. 80 mph FB up at your eyes…nice job, jackass.
Robbie hit it hard – oh well.
@ 77yankees:
True, although I wonder if the Yanks don’t offer him a modest deal to return. He had a great year and would be a better DH than the rotating pupu platter Girardi has talked about.
@ 77yankees:
Hit it hard, yes, but he still swung early in the count instead of trying to see a few more pitches, especially from a guy that throws junk…
I think Matsui’s limited OF ability hinders his chances. Outside of his first season, where he had great range, he’s tailed off since then.
Nice little play by A-Rod there.
Ugh, Gardner totally misplayed that ball. Awful. Shades of Bubba Crosby ’05…
For all his speed, he’s an average OF at best.
Goddamn it, if Gardner doesn’t fuck up that Ruiz hit, it’s only 2 outs and man at 3rd instead of 2-1.
Well, at least it got Light Bulb Head in the FAUX booth all excited.
Pettitte gets out of further trouble but I didn’t like that inning. The Phils really put good wood on those outs.
@ 77yankees:
Agree completely. I’ve been saying it since last year: Gardner is a 4th OF type. No stick, bad routes to balls, no arm. Apart from his speed, he’s more or less useless.
@ MJ:
They’d be best to peddle him to an NL team who could use a Willy Taveras/Juan Pierre type.
Stupid-ass website went down for 40 minutes. Back now.
Matsui 4 – Phillies 1
Pettitte not super sharp but battling…especially battling a fat blind bastard behind home plate
Also, losing Damon in the 2-hole is not so good…
Oh no..they say hes got to go…Go Go Godzilla!
Cano hit that one well but it was merely a long out.
Cano just hit another one hard..next time it gone
Swisher’s got Werth’s swing. Just noticed. Horrendous.
@ clintfsu813:
Also hit another one early in the count. It would not kill him to work on Pedro a little bit.
Oh, and although it happened 20 minutes ago while this site was down, it bears mentioning that Posada botched another one behind the plate.
Posada is a joke. Truly a joke. I have no respect for him.
Pedro’s up to 5 K’s in 3.2 IP. Remarkable, especially when you consider his FB has gone up from 84 in the 1st to 90 in the 4th.
Letting Pedro off the hook right there
Just about every hard hit for the Yanks is right at someone. Either the Phils’ defensive positioning is absolutely incredible or they’re the luckiest team alive.
Andrew Eugene just needs to chip in 5 more outs if possible.
Come on Andy, no need to walk the 9-hole hitter.
A shitty walk would be made lovely with a DP on rollins
They totally go with Mo with 2 outs in the 7th
HEY! HEY! Did everyone just see that? Posada blocked a ball! WOW!
Andy is battling but he’s losing his feel…can’t find the zone right now
Atta boy!!!!
WOW! AWESOME AROUND THE HORN DP
MJ wrote:
Next thing you know he’s gonna block the plate and hold on to the ball.
Bottom 5…ok, let’s start opening it up a little bit
Ok offense..I dont wanna see Rivera tonight
How many pitches was that for Andy?
@ clintfsu813:
LOL, if they’re up 15-1 Rivera’s pitching the 9th.
Wow, how did Francisco miss that?
77yankees wrote:
Seriously, that’ll be the day.
Normally I’m not a fan of the bunt but that was excellent. Get the runner over and avoid a lousy hitter from doing something lousy.
Teixeira, seriously, your next set of AB’s may not be until March 2010. Wouldn’t you like to end the year on a nice note?
Amen. The horse-face finally gets a hit.
I wore my Tex shirt today for some mojo…way to go me!
Come on A-Rod! Joe West screwed you in your last AB. Time for you to get angry.
Arod gettin ass raped
Good grief, Joe West hates A-Rod or something. Two horrible strike calls…
MJ wrote:
Joe West wins the Charlie Weis look-alike contest.
Funny…the 1-2 pitch was the best strike of the nite and it was called a ball
Here’s the deal, first time the Yanks face the Phils in spring training, there’s gotta be a 100 mph fastball from joba to rollins, square in the eye. I’m tired of philly hitting our guys.
Chooch Ruiz teaches Posada how to block a ball.
Come on Hideki…if this is your last game as a Yank, go out with another couple of RBI!
Hideki 6 – Phillies 1
Do we have an MVP now?????
Are you fucking kidding me??????? 6 RBI’s!!!
3 AB’s following Matsui RBI’s for Posada, 3 straight swings-and-misses at the first pitch,
Posada fuckin sucks.
MVP still gotta be Pettite
You know, it’s not Reggie going deep on 3 consecutive pitches, but damn!!
posada is wretched. i cannot wait until his stupid contract expires
@ clintfsu813:
@ 77yankees:
Lets not talk MVP’s yet. Lets win the game first.
Stretch that lead, boys
Way to kill the mood MJ, lol
Amazing that Cano has lasted into a 5 pitch AB. Naturally, however, he strikes out. Insufferably inept hitter.
@ clintfsu813:
LOL, all i’m saying is that we’ll talk MVP’s while the boys are jumping up and down around the mound and not a minute before.
12 outs stand in our way…
Touche’ Teacher..Touche’
11 outs…
Did anyone else see that 2-1 pitch to Utley called a ball? WTF is going on here?
Forget it, we need computers calling balls and strikes because clearly the Game 4 guy and tonight’s guy are blind, incompetent buffoons.
Come on Howard..1 more K please
MJ wrote:
+1
Dammit
Ryan Howard was bound to snap out of it but the problem is that Utley never actually walked. Joe West gets 1 ER and Pettitte gets the other.
10 outs
If Ryan Howard only gets 1 HR this WS i’ll be ok with that
Ibanez with a 2-out 2B.
Girardi won’t let Pettitte finish the inning? Seriously?
This is how you lose a World Series.
Yanks desperately need to score more runs over the next 2 innings. We need to Girardi-proof this game because #62 will do his damndest to fuck this up like he always does.
If this were Twitter, I’d say #tradejoba
1 pitch at a time, fatty, 1 pitch at a time.
Come on #62, the game is in your hands now.
Listen you disgusting piece of garbage, you’re a fastball pitcher only. Your slider sucks. Just throw gas and locate it. Don’t mess around
Dear MJ..put that up your ass and smoke it. Sincerely, #62
#62 gets his out.
Where does Giradi go from here? Sticks with him or really starts juggling?
clintfsu813 wrote:
He’s welcome to try. I’ll beat his ass in a second, I can guarantee you that.
Come on offense, we need more. Need to Girardi-proof this one quickly.
Swish just missed one…
Truly amazed that Joe West didn’t call that one a strike
Nice walk
Come on Gardner, bunting isn’t that hard
Fastball right down the middle.
Seriously, Gardner is not a MLB-caliber player.
Come on DJ
I got a Empire State of mind
Nothing irritates more than when DJ hacks at a pitch so early in the count when advancing the runner is what his job is.
No chance Hairston gets a hit here so back to my original question…
Who’s pitching the top of the 7th for the Yanks?
The six deuce
clintfsu813 wrote:
Does he get all 3 outs or does Joe mix and match?
9 outs away…4 run lead….
COME ON #62, DO YOUR JOB
If hes dealing he sticks with him..short leash tho
MJ wrote:
DO YOUR JOB….A
P.S. Greatest movie title ever….The Box.
Carlos Ruiz owns #62.
Cano turns a nice play there. Gotta give the man his credit for that.
Interesting. A lot of trust from Girardi in #62 to keep him in there with Utley at dish
Posada’s arm came up 2 inches short.
*Victorino, not Utley
Dear MJ..my bad yo. Love, six deuce
And where the game seemed to be firmly in control, #62 makes it suddenly dicey.
I truly hate him. Truly.
I don’t care how good his spring training is next year, he starts in the minors and earns his way back on, just like Clay Buchholz this year. #62 isn’t worth it to have his fat ass kissed.
Can Marte defy logic once more?
Come on Marte, 2 more strikes.
Wow, what crazy break on that. Curve i guess, right?
Wow. Clearly, Marte sold his soul to the devil some time in October
I DID not think he went..replay shows he did. I love you Damaso!
Incidentally, why did Girardi have Hughes warming and not Robertson? Robertson is the better pitcher at this point.
Haha yeah he just put on a clinic
6 outs.
6 outs.
I’d love to see the Yanks tack on 2 more if possible, just to take the grand slam out of play
Come on horse-face, a tack on run here please
Teixeira chipped in an RBI tonight. I guess he felt like he was good for another few months. Asshole.
good cut by alex there.
whens the last time someone hit for a cycle in a ws
Cheapie little hit but that’s just fine.
Eh, I’m good with Mark, he doesn’t have to put the Yankees on his back.
g1ph7 wrote:
you got that right, because he did the opposite. he let his ass get carried
Somewhere..Tokyo just shit themselves
No way Matsui drives in another, right?
Yeah, Teixeira’s bat has been a big letdown. But his glove has been outstanding at least.
Strike out..Matsui is garbage!
JeremyM wrote:
Same with Cano
Yankees are back to RISP/fail mode again
MJ wrote:
Geez. You can have Giambi back at first base then or Sheffield or Shelley Duncan
clintfsu813 wrote:
i get the sarcasm but i dont think i’m being too hard on teixeira/cano.
g1ph7 wrote:
no, i’m fine with teixeira. ripping him for sucking up in october is not the same as saying i dont want him on the team.
it’s not an all or nothing proposition and i think the criticism is completely warranted.
Was that Fallon? I thought he was a Sock?
MJ wrote:
That had nothing to do with you, lol. Just overstating his awesomeness tonight!
Cano/Teixeira both K. so predictable. RISP/fail for them is the theme of the playoffs.
in 6 outs all may be forgiven but they will owe a debt of gratitude to their teammates for not becoming the goats of the playoffs.
dirty
And the new record for most strikeouts…Ryan Allawishous Howard!
Wow, Marte is truly transcendent this October. I’ve never seen a guy go from scrub to great in the blink of an eye like that.
Enter NIiiiiiiight
clintfsu813 wrote:
He was a Yanks fan first and switched over in ’04. I’m not even kidding here.
Mo for 5 outs. I hope it’s the Game 3/Game 4 Mo and not the Game 2 Mo.
Marte has been an absolute beast.
Him missing the entire year, and that bad contract, are completely worth it to me right now.
YankCrank wrote:
If the Yanks manage to hold on and win this, EVERYONE’S contract was worth it. CC justified himself, AJ, Teix, down the line.
Werth K’s on a 91 mph CU
Ooof, that was close. I hate dink-n-dunks like that
no, that stadium doesn’t get loud. no, rich people have no soul.
tired memes end tonight. the place is rocking
Mo’s velocity is down tonight…
Why was Brett so short?
Bad pitch, Mo
Mo looks more like the Game 2 version. It’s why I’m not a huge fan of these multi-inning saves…
Uhm, that really wasn’t too far over the plate, Ibanez leaned over. I hate fox, i really do.
clintfsu813 wrote:
Cuz usually Mo gets cheapie bloops. I understand why he was so far in but he STILL got turned around on that run back to the wall.
Gardner’s not much of a CF.
3 moooooore
3 more outs!
We get to see that ass clown Rollins one more time, I hope the fans chant “Phils in 5.”
At least he gets the same recognition Benny Agbayani gets from now on.
YankCrank wrote:
I hope he swings and misses on 3 pitches to prove him wrong…..again.

LOL
Gunna watch the rest of this offline guys. Enjoy, hope we have lots of celebrating to talk about tomorrow.
Go Yankees!
come on boys…another run or two, huh?
@ YankCrank:
Have a good one YankCrank. TTY tomorrow brother!
I’ll sign off at top 9th
hopefully DJ’s final AB of the season. it was a great one for him.
This Derek kid is gonna be good one day
another hit for jeter. tremendous. hit #175 in post-season career. that’s more than most people pull off in a regular season.
this is painful…if we’re not gonna score a run let’s just get on with it and get to the final 3 outs!
OK everyone, 3 more outs. let’s hope it’s nice and quiet
How great would it be if J-Wrong was the last out!!!!!
Amen. Shove it down Rollins throat…
Can anyone make out what the fans are chanting?
Mo is off tonight.
2 outs away.
Mo’s velocity is way down tonight. The poor man desperately needs his rest this winter.
remarkable that no yankee pitcher could retire the phils’ #9 hitter…
and while i agree that that pitch was a ball, it WAS called a strike on A-Rod earlier this evening.
MJ wrote:
Think Mo walks away after next season? I can see it.
one away!
g1ph7 wrote:
has a year left on his deal. he doesn’t walk away from a commitment.
MJ wrote:
I said ‘next year’ implying he’d fufill that commitment
victorino is a pesky little SOB. i want him to be the immortalized out on the DVD!
Err next season i meant to say
@ g1ph7:
maybe
my heart is racing. come on mo!
FUCK YES
IT IS ABOUT TIME.
