OK ladies and gents, here we go…
Dear Andy, we desperately need you to do your job tonight. Please give us your best. We love you.
November 4th, 2009 at 7:58 pm
Nice defensive start for Mr. Jeter.
November 4th, 2009 at 7:59 pm
BTW, i’ll take 2 pitch outs every time.
November 4th, 2009 at 8:00 pm
Victorino gets a cheapie hit there. Annoying when that happens, especially an annoying guy like Victorino.
He’s got a Pedroia-like aura about him. He’s right on that border between hard-nosed and dirty…
November 4th, 2009 at 8:01 pm
I’m curious how this ump will call balls and strikes. Game 4’s ump was atrocious.
November 4th, 2009 at 8:02 pm
Love it. Beautiful DP.
3 outs in the books…
November 4th, 2009 at 8:05 pm
Something about Pedro’s doughy, shapeless face annoys me.
November 4th, 2009 at 8:06 pm
Come on Derek…let’s start this game off right.
November 4th, 2009 at 8:07 pm
Not that I realistically expect it to happen but wouldn’t it be great if the Yanks chased Pedro early and put another nail in the coffin of his career?
November 4th, 2009 at 8:07 pm
Damnit, I feel like the Yanks hit a lot of hard balls in this series that were right at Philly OF’ers.
November 4th, 2009 at 8:09 pm
You don’t often see a K on a changeup at the letters…
November 4th, 2009 at 8:10 pm
Tex works a full count…come on, horse-face, do something for a change.
November 4th, 2009 at 8:11 pm
off the end of the bat…a few more inches and it would’ve been 1-0. that’s teixeira’s best swing in several AB’s…hopefully an omen of things to come (but probably not)
November 4th, 2009 at 8:15 pm
Another nice defensive play for Teixeira…at least he’s not Giambi over there.
November 4th, 2009 at 8:16 pm
I’m not a scout but when I watch Werth swing, I wonder how he’s successful. Very rigid, not much communication between his eyes and his hands, just a giant uppercut hack. Bust him inside and you should be able to get him out, no?
November 4th, 2009 at 8:18 pm
Werth walks. At least one of those balls (the 2-1 fastball) was a strike. Boo.
November 4th, 2009 at 8:18 pm
Andy saws off Ibanez. 2 away.
November 4th, 2009 at 8:20 pm
McCarver just said Andy is staying away from the cutter in on righties…i wish someone had told andy to stay away from the cutter in on kendrick/vlad in game 3 of the ALCS
November 4th, 2009 at 8:22 pm
Well if you had “2nd inning” for when posada would make another poor defensive play behind home plate, you just won a gift certificate.
At what point do his teammates just tell Jorge to STFU every time he talks? You can’t lead if you suck at your job.
November 4th, 2009 at 8:23 pm
No harm no foul as posada snares the F-2
November 4th, 2009 at 8:26 pm
Pedro seems to want no part of Alex.
November 4th, 2009 at 8:28 pm
Hideki, baby, look curveball
November 4th, 2009 at 8:29 pm
Pedro’s gained 4 mph on his FB this inning from the last one.
November 4th, 2009 at 8:33 pm
Matsui’s hangin’ in there…ain’t nothin’ wrong with working Pedro’s pitch count up.
November 4th, 2009 at 8:33 pm
WOW! Hideki!
November 4th, 2009 at 8:34 pm
What an at-bat!!!!
November 4th, 2009 at 8:35 pm
One of the most underrated storylines for me is if the Yanks do actually manage to win this, Matsui finally gets his ring. I would be thrilled for him.
November 4th, 2009 at 8:36 pm
@ MJ:
In probably his last game as a Yankee.
November 4th, 2009 at 8:36 pm
OK Posada, go sit down. 80 mph FB up at your eyes…nice job, jackass.
November 4th, 2009 at 8:37 pm
Robbie hit it hard – oh well.
November 4th, 2009 at 8:37 pm
@ 77yankees:
True, although I wonder if the Yanks don’t offer him a modest deal to return. He had a great year and would be a better DH than the rotating pupu platter Girardi has talked about.
November 4th, 2009 at 8:39 pm
@ 77yankees:
Hit it hard, yes, but he still swung early in the count instead of trying to see a few more pitches, especially from a guy that throws junk…
November 4th, 2009 at 8:40 pm
I think Matsui’s limited OF ability hinders his chances. Outside of his first season, where he had great range, he’s tailed off since then.
November 4th, 2009 at 8:43 pm
Nice little play by A-Rod there.
November 4th, 2009 at 8:45 pm
Ugh, Gardner totally misplayed that ball. Awful. Shades of Bubba Crosby ‘05…
November 4th, 2009 at 8:46 pm
For all his speed, he’s an average OF at best.
November 4th, 2009 at 8:47 pm
Goddamn it, if Gardner doesn’t fuck up that Ruiz hit, it’s only 2 outs and man at 3rd instead of 2-1.
November 4th, 2009 at 8:48 pm
Well, at least it got Light Bulb Head in the FAUX booth all excited.
November 4th, 2009 at 8:49 pm
Pettitte gets out of further trouble but I didn’t like that inning. The Phils really put good wood on those outs.
November 4th, 2009 at 8:49 pm
@ 77yankees:
Agree completely. I’ve been saying it since last year: Gardner is a 4th OF type. No stick, bad routes to balls, no arm. Apart from his speed, he’s more or less useless.
November 4th, 2009 at 8:51 pm
@ MJ:
They’d be best to peddle him to an NL team who could use a Willy Taveras/Juan Pierre type.
November 4th, 2009 at 9:26 pm
Stupid-ass website went down for 40 minutes. Back now.
November 4th, 2009 at 9:27 pm
Matsui 4 – Phillies 1
Pettitte not super sharp but battling…especially battling a fat blind bastard behind home plate
November 4th, 2009 at 9:27 pm
Also, losing Damon in the 2-hole is not so good…
November 4th, 2009 at 9:29 pm
Oh no..they say hes got to go…Go Go Godzilla!
November 4th, 2009 at 9:29 pm
Cano hit that one well but it was merely a long out.
November 4th, 2009 at 9:29 pm
Cano just hit another one hard..next time it gone
November 4th, 2009 at 9:29 pm
Swisher’s got Werth’s swing. Just noticed. Horrendous.
November 4th, 2009 at 9:30 pm
@ clintfsu813:
Also hit another one early in the count. It would not kill him to work on Pedro a little bit.
November 4th, 2009 at 9:31 pm
Oh, and although it happened 20 minutes ago while this site was down, it bears mentioning that Posada botched another one behind the plate.
Posada is a joke. Truly a joke. I have no respect for him.
November 4th, 2009 at 9:32 pm
Pedro’s up to 5 K’s in 3.2 IP. Remarkable, especially when you consider his FB has gone up from 84 in the 1st to 90 in the 4th.
November 4th, 2009 at 9:33 pm
Letting Pedro off the hook right there
November 4th, 2009 at 9:33 pm
Just about every hard hit for the Yanks is right at someone. Either the Phils’ defensive positioning is absolutely incredible or they’re the luckiest team alive.
November 4th, 2009 at 9:37 pm
Andrew Eugene just needs to chip in 5 more outs if possible.
November 4th, 2009 at 9:38 pm
Come on Andy, no need to walk the 9-hole hitter.
November 4th, 2009 at 9:40 pm
A shitty walk would be made lovely with a DP on rollins
November 4th, 2009 at 9:40 pm
They totally go with Mo with 2 outs in the 7th
November 4th, 2009 at 9:40 pm
HEY! HEY! Did everyone just see that? Posada blocked a ball! WOW!
November 4th, 2009 at 9:41 pm
Andy is battling but he’s losing his feel…can’t find the zone right now
November 4th, 2009 at 9:41 pm
Atta boy!!!!
November 4th, 2009 at 9:41 pm
WOW! AWESOME AROUND THE HORN DP
November 4th, 2009 at 9:42 pm
MJ wrote:
Next thing you know he’s gonna block the plate and hold on to the ball.

Bottom 5…ok, let’s start opening it up a little bit
November 4th, 2009 at 9:45 pm
Ok offense..I dont wanna see Rivera tonight
November 4th, 2009 at 9:46 pm
How many pitches was that for Andy?
November 4th, 2009 at 9:46 pm
@ clintfsu813:
LOL, if they’re up 15-1 Rivera’s pitching the 9th.
November 4th, 2009 at 9:46 pm
Wow, how did Francisco miss that?
November 4th, 2009 at 9:47 pm
77yankees wrote:
Seriously, that’ll be the day.
November 4th, 2009 at 9:47 pm
Normally I’m not a fan of the bunt but that was excellent. Get the runner over and avoid a lousy hitter from doing something lousy.
November 4th, 2009 at 9:48 pm
Teixeira, seriously, your next set of AB’s may not be until March 2010. Wouldn’t you like to end the year on a nice note?
November 4th, 2009 at 9:49 pm
Amen. The horse-face finally gets a hit.
November 4th, 2009 at 9:49 pm
I wore my Tex shirt today for some mojo…way to go me!
November 4th, 2009 at 9:50 pm
Come on A-Rod! Joe West screwed you in your last AB. Time for you to get angry.
November 4th, 2009 at 9:50 pm
Arod gettin ass raped
November 4th, 2009 at 9:50 pm
Good grief, Joe West hates A-Rod or something. Two horrible strike calls…
November 4th, 2009 at 9:50 pm
MJ wrote:
Joe West wins the Charlie Weis look-alike contest.
November 4th, 2009 at 9:51 pm
Funny…the 1-2 pitch was the best strike of the nite and it was called a ball
November 4th, 2009 at 9:52 pm
Here’s the deal, first time the Yanks face the Phils in spring training, there’s gotta be a 100 mph fastball from joba to rollins, square in the eye. I’m tired of philly hitting our guys.
November 4th, 2009 at 9:55 pm
Chooch Ruiz teaches Posada how to block a ball.
November 4th, 2009 at 9:57 pm
Come on Hideki…if this is your last game as a Yank, go out with another couple of RBI!
November 4th, 2009 at 9:57 pm
Hideki 6 – Phillies 1
November 4th, 2009 at 9:57 pm
Do we have an MVP now?????
November 4th, 2009 at 9:57 pm
Are you fucking kidding me??????? 6 RBI’s!!!
November 4th, 2009 at 9:58 pm
3 AB’s following Matsui RBI’s for Posada, 3 straight swings-and-misses at the first pitch,
Posada fuckin sucks.
November 4th, 2009 at 9:58 pm
MVP still gotta be Pettite
November 4th, 2009 at 9:59 pm
You know, it’s not Reggie going deep on 3 consecutive pitches, but damn!!
November 4th, 2009 at 9:59 pm
posada is wretched. i cannot wait until his stupid contract expires
November 4th, 2009 at 10:00 pm
@ clintfsu813:
@ 77yankees:
Lets not talk MVP’s yet. Lets win the game first.
November 4th, 2009 at 10:00 pm
Stretch that lead, boys
November 4th, 2009 at 10:01 pm
Way to kill the mood MJ, lol
November 4th, 2009 at 10:02 pm
Amazing that Cano has lasted into a 5 pitch AB. Naturally, however, he strikes out. Insufferably inept hitter.
November 4th, 2009 at 10:03 pm
@ clintfsu813:
LOL, all i’m saying is that we’ll talk MVP’s while the boys are jumping up and down around the mound and not a minute before.
12 outs stand in our way…
November 4th, 2009 at 10:04 pm
Touche’ Teacher..Touche’
November 4th, 2009 at 10:07 pm
11 outs…
November 4th, 2009 at 10:09 pm
Did anyone else see that 2-1 pitch to Utley called a ball? WTF is going on here?
Forget it, we need computers calling balls and strikes because clearly the Game 4 guy and tonight’s guy are blind, incompetent buffoons.
November 4th, 2009 at 10:10 pm

Ryan Howard was bound to snap out of it but the problem is that Utley never actually walked. Joe West gets 1 ER and Pettitte gets the other.
November 4th, 2009 at 10:13 pm
10 outs
November 4th, 2009 at 10:13 pm
If Ryan Howard only gets 1 HR this WS i’ll be ok with that
November 4th, 2009 at 10:13 pm
Ibanez with a 2-out 2B.
November 4th, 2009 at 10:14 pm
Girardi won’t let Pettitte finish the inning? Seriously?
This is how you lose a World Series.
November 4th, 2009 at 10:16 pm
Yanks desperately need to score more runs over the next 2 innings. We need to Girardi-proof this game because #62 will do his damndest to fuck this up like he always does.
If this were Twitter, I’d say #tradejoba
November 4th, 2009 at 10:17 pm
1 pitch at a time, fatty, 1 pitch at a time.
Come on #62, the game is in your hands now.
November 4th, 2009 at 10:18 pm
Listen you disgusting piece of garbage, you’re a fastball pitcher only. Your slider sucks. Just throw gas and locate it. Don’t mess around
November 4th, 2009 at 10:18 pm
Dear MJ..put that up your ass and smoke it. Sincerely, #62
November 4th, 2009 at 10:19 pm
#62 gets his out.
Where does Giradi go from here? Sticks with him or really starts juggling?

November 4th, 2009 at 10:23 pm
Swish just missed one…
November 4th, 2009 at 10:24 pm
Truly amazed that Joe West didn’t call that one a strike
November 4th, 2009 at 10:25 pm
Nice walk
November 4th, 2009 at 10:27 pm
Come on Gardner, bunting isn’t that hard
November 4th, 2009 at 10:28 pm
Fastball right down the middle.
Seriously, Gardner is not a MLB-caliber player.
November 4th, 2009 at 10:31 pm
Come on DJ
November 4th, 2009 at 10:31 pm
I got a Empire State of mind
November 4th, 2009 at 10:32 pm
Nothing irritates more than when DJ hacks at a pitch so early in the count when advancing the runner is what his job is.
November 4th, 2009 at 10:33 pm
No chance Hairston gets a hit here so back to my original question…
Who’s pitching the top of the 7th for the Yanks?
November 4th, 2009 at 10:34 pm
The six deuce

November 4th, 2009 at 10:43 pm
Cano turns a nice play there. Gotta give the man his credit for that.
November 4th, 2009 at 10:44 pm
Interesting. A lot of trust from Girardi in #62 to keep him in there with Utley at dish
November 4th, 2009 at 10:44 pm
Posada’s arm came up 2 inches short.
November 4th, 2009 at 10:45 pm
*Victorino, not Utley
November 4th, 2009 at 10:46 pm
Dear MJ..my bad yo. Love, six deuce
November 4th, 2009 at 10:46 pm
And where the game seemed to be firmly in control, #62 makes it suddenly dicey.
I truly hate him. Truly.
I don’t care how good his spring training is next year, he starts in the minors and earns his way back on, just like Clay Buchholz this year. #62 isn’t worth it to have his fat ass kissed.
November 4th, 2009 at 10:48 pm
Can Marte defy logic once more?
November 4th, 2009 at 10:49 pm
Come on Marte, 2 more strikes.
November 4th, 2009 at 10:49 pm
Wow, what crazy break on that. Curve i guess, right?
November 4th, 2009 at 10:50 pm
Wow. Clearly, Marte sold his soul to the devil some time in October
November 4th, 2009 at 10:51 pm
I DID not think he went..replay shows he did. I love you Damaso!
November 4th, 2009 at 10:51 pm
Incidentally, why did Girardi have Hughes warming and not Robertson? Robertson is the better pitcher at this point.
November 4th, 2009 at 10:51 pm
Haha yeah he just put on a clinic
November 4th, 2009 at 10:51 pm
6 outs.
November 4th, 2009 at 10:55 pm
6 outs.
I’d love to see the Yanks tack on 2 more if possible, just to take the grand slam out of play
November 4th, 2009 at 10:56 pm
Come on horse-face, a tack on run here please
November 4th, 2009 at 10:58 pm
Teixeira chipped in an RBI tonight. I guess he felt like he was good for another few months. Asshole.
November 4th, 2009 at 10:59 pm

in 6 outs all may be forgiven but they will owe a debt of gratitude to their teammates for not becoming the goats of the playoffs.
