David Schoenfield thinks that the 2009 Yankees were the 10th best Yankees champoinship team ever. And, Dayn Perry agrees with that slotting.
Where would you place the 2009 Yankees, all-time, compared to all other Bronx Bomber ring teams?

Well, seeing as I was too young for anything before ‘96, I’d have to root the recent championship teams as follows:
1) 1998
2) 1996
3) 2009
4) 1999
5) 2000
Could probably swap 4 & 5 if I had to…

@ Pete:
Did I say “root”, I meant ‘rate’. D’oh.

I never saw any of the other teams so I can’t really rate. But, based on their methodology, I suppose I’d have to agree.

I wouldn’t attempt to rate the ‘09 edition until the ink is dry, so to speak. What I would like to know is how the Yankee infield this season (Teixeira-Cano-Jeter-Rodriguez) rates in terms of Win Shares, RSAA, OPS+, VORP, or what have you, against the infields of other champions. Just how good was “The $80,000,000 Infield?”

Oh, as an addendum here’s a link that might be of interest with the above.

I’m from the Rochester NY area as well.
