Two 19 win yr’s and a great start to ’08 before he was injured. It’d be really dumb to give up on him.

This type of story drives me nuts. Why would the Yanks non-tender Wang? With money coming out of every orifice of Boss Steinbrenner’s body, it is ridiculous to get cheap over a couple of million on a once-productive member of your staff that, if fully healthy, could possibly return some value for the team.

The Yanks got cheap over $500,000 to a good college pitcher in this year’s draft and now it looks like they’re going to get cheap over their former #1 starter. It’s perplexing how a team with a $200M payroll can vomit money on losers like Carl Pavano but pinch pennies on the margins of their budget.
