    Joel Sherman has the story.

I wonder what number it will take to get this done? $12 million? Closer to $15 million?

I really don’t see this going to fifteen. But, if the Yankees get close to twelve, it should be a done deal – and done quickly.

$15 million is fantasyland for Pettitte, and I’d probably be closer to to $10 mill that $12 if I were making the offer.

Oh and btw, the White Rat made it. Whitey Hertzog was elected to the Hall of Fame (along with umpire Doug Harvey) by the Veterans Committee. Yankee and Yankee related figures who missed the cut included Jacob Ruppert, Billy Martin, Gabe Paul and Bill White. Just thought you’d like to know.

I don’t see it going to $15. I think Pettitte just doesn’t want another paycut which is what $10 million would be after he made $10.5 in 2009. I’d guess it’ll be between $11-$12 million.

Since I can no longer post items, I’ll just link it in the appropriate section.

Turns out Andy might not have been offered anything after all.
