For sure, this isn’t going to be a “flyer” type signing, as there are a lot of lesser teams that might be willing to overpay for a higher profile pitcher coming off major injury. Certainly, 30 teams would send him a spring training invite.

So would I, with Sheets. He is ready to pitch now; Wang will be fortunate to take the mound in May or June.

Well, certainly, you wouldn’t sign Sheets at his asking price.

But take a flyer on one of them for a back of the rotation slot? Sure; why not.

You have to do something to hold Hughes’ innings down anyway.

You start him in the pen, then build up his arm to start if the this injurt re-hab starter doesn’t get the job done, while, at the same time, grooming a middle reliever to take over at set-up.

If either is willing to accept a reasonable price, I’d take the gamble.

If we are going to sign a former ace who’s been on the dl all of last year to a multi-million dollar deal, I’d rather sign our former ace.
