Oh, The Pain…It’s Now A Book!

The 1995 ALDS. Man, that one hurt.

New Jersey’s own Chris Donnelly has written a book on that series. Arne C. told me that it’s “a two-pronged look at the Yankees and Mariners from 1980 or so on up through October ’95, focused on the ALDS.”

Hey, as much as the ’95 ALDS stung like a mother in Yankeeland, if you loved ’80′s Yankees baseball, this may be interesting. Arne also interviewed Donnelly. Click here to check it out.

Does anyone think 2001 may have stung worse for the M’s? They came in with 116 wins and was promptly booted by The Yanks..in pretty humiliating fashion I might add. Not to mention we booted them in 2000 too. :D

This would be like reading a book about your divorce. With in-depth interviews with the guy who was sleeping with your wife. And pictures. In other words, I’ll pass.

Great analogy, lol. Thats why I skipped the recap of the 2001 playoffs in Torre’s book

    @ clintfsu813:
I always considered the 2001 playoffs as one of the best I’ve ever seen. Sure, we lost in heartbreaking fashion. But that’s about as good as October baseball gets, IMO.

1995 & 2004 are the worst Yankee losses I’ve endured in my lifetime. Game 7 in 2001 gets a pass after how that series went down with the two unbelievable games in NY, and how those helped lift everyone’s spirits after 9/11.

1995 was depressing because it was Mattingly’s farewell, the Yanks first postseason since 1981, and I thought they’d have beaten the Indians that year in the LCS to get to the WS.

2004, well, let’s say I would have felt a lot better had the Cardinals taken care of business in the World Series.

This actually sounds like a very cool book. That series was painful to live through, but it had a great cast of characters.
