Those are Lester Hayes-like footsteps that you’re hearing…via the Lehigh Valley Express-Times

Meredith Marakovits got the promotion from Triple-A to the major leagues.

The Northampton native and former TV 2 Sports reporter and member of the IronPigs TV Network broadcast team, accepted a postition today at ESPN 1050 AM radio as a beat reporter for the New York Yankees. Marakovits served as a co-host of the IronPigs pregame show and as a sideline reporter for the Lehigh Valley franchise’s games.

Marakovits, who starred in volleyball at Central Catholic High School and La Salle University, is also leaving her position with Sports Radio 950 AM in Philadelphia.

Would Michael Kay pull some strings, down the line, to get Marakovits into the YES fold? I dunno…but, anything is possible.

Yeah, she’s certainly cute enough to fill the role (which seems to be the direction sideline reporters that otherwise bring nothing else to the table is headed).

Kim Jones should definitely feel threatened. She’s younger, cuter and now works on Michael Kay’s radio station.

Good call. She does look like a young Kim Jones!

As we know, she eventually replaced Jones.

I saw her today, in person, very close up. And, I have to say, she’s a lot better looking in person, than on TV.

Not that it matters…it’s all about the reporting and not the looks, right?
