Knowing the questions were coming about his coming interview with federal investigators in the Anthony Galea investigation, Alex Rodriguez stopped in front of his locker early Wednesday afternoon.

Predictably, Rodriguez had little to say.

“If there are no baseball questions, I have nothing to talk about,” Rodriguez said. When someone did ask a baseball question — namely, if he would be playing Thursday in Sarasota against Baltimore — Rodriguez smiled, pointed at his questioner and said yes.

Rodriguez is expected to fly to Buffalo, possibly Thursday night, to meet Friday with prosecutors from the United States attorney’s office in that city. Investigators are trying to determine if Galea, a Canadian-based doctor, distributed performance-enhancing drugs in the United States.

“From what I read and understand, we may not have him on Friday,” [Joe] Girardi said. “And that’s it. That’s all I’ve got.”

So Girardi’s plans to play Rodriguez three consecutive days were dashed for the second time in less than a week. Rodriguez played Friday and Saturday, and he was in the lineup for Sunday’s game, which was canceled because of rain. He started Wednesday night against the Washington Nationals at Steinbrenner Field, and Girardi had planned to use him Thursday and Friday.

Girardi said he had not thought much about how disruptive Rodriguez’s latest off-field issue might be to Rodriguez or the team.

“There are no accusations,” Girardi said. “It seems to be about somebody else. It’s disruptive in that he won’t be here Friday, but beyond that, I’m not too concerned.

“I’ll sit down and talk to him a little bit about it, but I won’t get into a whole lot of details because he’s probably not able to give me a lot of details. That’s the way the system works.”

Whenever I hear Buffalo, it makes me think of Mark Ruffalo – who I always confuse with Vincent Gallo…probably because he starred in a movie called Buffalo ’66…which, of course, brings us back to…Buffalo.

And, then, of course, there’s Chief Mean Buffalo…

Ah, Sunday mornings on WPIX…back in the day.

Oh yeah, by the way… I know it’s the Nats and I know it’s spring training, but Javy looked pretty sharp last night. Damn fine outing by a number 4 starter.

I do appreciate the F-Troop reference. I watched ’em about a million times and they are still funny.

Wasn’t it usually an Abbott & Costello movie on Channel 11 vs. a Tarzan movie on Channel 5 on Sunday mornings??

Of course these days it’s a 30 minute infomercial for nose hair removal cream vs. a 30 minute infomercial for a combination sandwich maker/washing machine.
