The Yankees have cut Randy Winn.
Brian Cashman’s comment: Randy Winn…Wilson Betemit…Jeff Weaver…Rondell White…Tony Womack…Jaret Wright…why do players with “W” in their name work out so poorly for me?
(Yeah, I know, Womack and Wright were not Cashman. It’s just a joke, ya know…)

So let me get this straight – the Yanks could have spent $7 million on Damon, but instead opted for Earthquake Johnson and Jimmy Wynn?
Sometimes I think the Yanks are being run by the Red Sox fan on the Avis commercial.
It’s wicked good to be here…

Yeah, well Winnless and DL Johnson were spun by the Yankee Homer crowd AKA The PInstripe Zombies. Both of those guys including Mr Junior Varsity have comprised Cash Man’s follies. GRady Mr Medi Savvy is a nice guy and he’s bright BUT I feel he’s just be OK. He in no way will repplace Damon or Matsui(though he’s been slumping). And Grandy wasn’t exactly setting the world on fire before he was injured.
Winnless was a very blah signing. They should have resigned Damonic for two more years. The guy plays an average of 140 games a year NOT the 80 plus that The Injury Kid AKA DL Johnson does.
Winn was signed as a backup OF. Nothing more, nothing less. He’ll serve in the Dale Sveum memorial role, as the “forgotten veteran”
