Yanks Looking For OF Bat

Via RotoWorld –
Buster Olney of ESPN.com hears that the Yankees remain focused on “trade pieces besides Cliff Lee.”
Consistent with what we’ve heard for a few weeks now, the Yankees believe their pitching is strong and will pursue other needs. Things could obviously change in the next month, but the the team’s biggest need is someone who can play all three outfield positions and/or DH a few times a week.
Sounds like the Yankees still don’t feel great about having Granderson face left-handed pitching or having Marcus Thames play defense…

I think they’re looking for a 4th OF to take the place of Randy Winn, whom they expected could play all three OF positions and hit a little. I don’t think it’s necessarily a Granderson thing.
Yeah, they’re looking for a 4th OF type, I doubt that they’s PH for Granderson and Thames is what he is at this stage of his career, a spare part.
Who might be on the market that fits this profile?
@ satchel: DeJesus.
@ Steve Lombardi:
Yuck, no. Not to mention, you’d have to grossly over pay for him. Pass
Not that hes an OF, but I liked Nomaas’ idea about Laroche. (Especially after his 5 RBI outing Wed. vs NYY.)

Frankly, I’d be fine with him if we could get him on the cheap. It provides a nice alternative to Mark Teixeira, who seems to be in the middle of one of those years where nothing will go right for him. The Yanks need a bat anyway, no reason why it can’t be the Nick Johnson corner infield bat.

Ditto – I said that back in ST. Yanks ask for DeJesus, Royals ask for Montero……..have a nice day.
@ MJ Recanati:
Tex has a pretty solid 6 game hit streak going, and if you look at his past 15 games he’s hitting like the Tex we all know and love
@ Corey Italiano:
We’ve seen him get hot for short stretches before this year (the first two weekends in May come to mind) so until he sustains it for a couple of months, I’m kinda skeptical.
