Some photos from this evening’s Staten Island Yankees game…for those into this kind of stuff…

Game notes follow the pix. Click on the photos to enlarge.

The singing of our National Anthem…sung by Isis Noel who’s worked the S.I. Yanks crowd before

    The S.I. Yankees…

    Early in the game…

Closer to the middle of the game…

    Much later in the game…

A Hudson Valley Renegades player with a funny name…

    Three shots of post-game fireworks…

As far as the game went…well

Staten Island’s Wilton Rodriguez got pounded. Lil’ Manuel Barreda looked much better than him. The Yankees Nick McCoy showed some hustle and spunk. But, his teammate Luis Parache had some issues in the field. Sticking with the Yankees…Eduardo Sosa, for some reason, caught my eye – not saying that he’s the next Ichiro or even the next Omar Moreno…just that his body actions at the plate looked good. And, Carlos Urena also caught my attention – when he made the last out of the game and took his sweet time getting off the field…you could have timed him with a sundial…which was not very exciting to see in a young player. Lastly, this Hudson Valley Renegades pitcher, who threw in the game, has a funny name – and maybe he should reach out to this minor league pitcher for some tips on dealing with that type of situation.

Some around me were saying this game was a sellout. Obviously, the pictures show that’s either a lie or there were a ton of no-shows. Terrible traffic getting out of the parking lot after the post-game fireworks. It took me at least 20 minutes just to get out. I don’t want to imagine how it would have been if the ballpark was full tonight…

I hear ya on the parking. Whenever I go to SI Yankee games, I walk there and back (I live about two miles away) just to avoid the parking/traffic problems!

      @ lisaswan:
Part of the issue, I assume, was because of the post-game fireworks. Because of the fireworks launching site, we couldn’t make a right out of the lot and come out by the ferry. Instead, they made us go left – everybody had to go left – and they pushed out on Bank Street…all the way out to Jersey Street. It was just a line of cars, crawling, bumper to bumper, for at least a half-mile. That was 20 minutes, right there.

Burt Reynolds looks a lot different without his Trans-Am and moustache :D

Glad you had a good time, I haven’t made the trip to SI yet. I’ve yet to drive to the park. Given that I’m on the other side of the bridge, in Westchester, I probably never will.
